Gradually his songs caught up with everybody thereby creating a very loyal fan base that evidently couldn’t get enough of their artist.

So it was expected that there will be a rush of excitement when Medikal announced that he will be coming out with his debut album titled Disturbation.

In a way to show much appreciation to his fan base for their unflinching support, Medikal held the Disturbation Album signing event, which was to later turn into a first time listening session of his Disturbation album, at the West Hills Mall.

The fans didn’t disappoint as they came out in their numbers and sang almost every song on the album word for word. After the successful event, Medikal released his Disturbation album on the 7th of July, 2017.

The fans praised his work. So we curiously decided to listen and review his album to see whether we could be on the same cloud 9 that his fan base was on.

Here goes.

The Disturbation album has a good 22 songs on it with 13 other artistes featuring on it. The featured artistes include Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Wanlov and Sister Deborah.

We hit play after going through the playlist and up comes the album intro, ‘Poof Gang’. ‘Poof Gang’ is an AFRAP tune which in some ways goes on celebrate his fans. Sitting through the song you are treated to some good wordplay.

Pappy ghost gets to be the first featured artist on the album with the Hip-hop genre ‘Obiaa Ye Ghost’ song coming second on the album. The song has great instrumentation and production to make it a mainstay in the hip-hop playlists of music lovers.

Medikal brings his emotional side on ‘Love You Die’ featuring Nigerian artist Falz. The rap love song is brought to life by Falz wonderful verses. The collaboration with the fellow African artist is followed by ‘Beautiful Africa’, a song where Medikal could’ve done a lot more on the great instruments that he had.

Yaro’, a mild Hiplife song featuring Shatta Wale, and ‘Saa’ a Trap song follow as track number 5 and 6. The great commercial tune ‘Pressure‘ follows next. ‘Pressure’ will be good for radio and is sure to win Medikal some more fans.

A music album by a rap artist can’t be complete without a song being made to extol the abilities of the artist.

For Medikal he goes hard and preaches his distinctness on ‘Horror’. Following ‘Horror’ is the heartfelt tune ‘Make I See’ where he seemingly tells his lover that he wants her by his side always.

‘Make I See’ features Wanlov’s sister, Sister Deborah. Sister Deborah again features on the next song ‘Too Risky’ with her ever popular one kalypo, two biscuit lines. ‘Too Risky’ is a top song. After ‘Too Risky’ follows ‘Come On’ which featured Phil Blak.

The upcoming artist did well to leave his imprint on the song by going hard on it. ‘Smallest Time’ featuring Lil Shaker and ‘Kete’ are track 12 and 13 in that order. The most popular song by a mile on the album plays next. Featuring Sarkodie, the ‘Confirm Remix’ is a solid hip-hop tune that everyone can attest to its brilliance.

Another featured artist comes next in the person of Wanlov. The artist’s verse on ‘Confuse Me’ is cool. Medikal does something for the roots people when the reggae themed ‘Juana’ comes up. The song also features Sister Afia, who probably must be the Mary Medikal declares his desire to be married to.

Shine’ is track number 17 whilst track number 18 goes to ‘We Are Waiting’ featuring Sency Miller. Medikal features dancehall act Stonebwoy on ‘Gimme Vibe’. The lovely dancehall fused tune is quite the vibe needed in a debut album.

Soldier’ featuring Ahtitude is a motivational tune that urges one not to give up on whatever you want which is followed by ‘Come My Way’ as track 21. Ending the Disturbation album is ‘Wetin’. The song is the right end to the album as it offers a calm and soothing ending to it.

All in all to enjoy this album, you will need to be in one hell of a mood to be able to sit through it from start to finish without skipping. The compilation of it could have been better and some of the word play was…

Oh well, we are done. That’s our Disturbation album review. POOF!!
