Keche admits Sark, Medikal & Shatta are millionaires

Joshua Ampah, member of renowned music duo, Keche, has named 3 of his colleague musicians, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Medikal, as having not less than $200,000 in their accounts currently.

Joshua made this statement to debunk the claim of Kofi Kapito that no Ghanaian musician can boast of $200,000 in his/her bank account.

He further revealed that the recent $500,000 contract signing with GEM Media was for the duo to personally squander and not for recording and promotional purposes as purported by the media.

He stated, “We were given $500,000 by Golden Legacy to chop. My cut is $250K. We were also given a rented house for two years”.

This assertion follows a shameful claim made by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito, that Ghanaian musicians only boast with their meagre earnings and talk with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about their achievements, possessions and music abilities, yet cannot boast of a two hundred thousand US dollar [$200,000] bank account.

“Here in Ghana, mediocrity sells. Because I asked people how much money do these Ghanaian artistes have yet they go around Accra, boasting that they’re rich when they are given some small money and a used car.

Music is not all about singing but it entails a lot. In Ghana, our musicians are good when it comes to recording good music but what comes after you’re done with the records is what matters and they lack that.” Kapito stated.

Kofi Kapito has been a staunch advocate of consumer rights.
