Richie Rich makes shocking revelations about Ofori Amponsah’s record label

Ghanaian Highlife sensation Richie Rich, after a hiatus from the music scene, has made certain stunning revelations in an interview on Ghanamusic.com’s 1 On 1.

As a child growing up in the mountainous town of Abetifi in the Kwahu enclave which has been tagged as the ‘Musical hub’ of Ghana, he never imagined that the music of Kwesi Pee and others he was mimicking to the admiration of all, will one day propel him later into greater heights.

The smooth and silky-voiced singer has finally spoken up after years of leaving the camp of his former boss, Ofori Amponsah.

The ‘Tasty’ crooner, came into limelight after being featured on C-Zar’s hit songs, “Mercy Lokko” and “Araba Lawson”, upon being recommended to C-Zar by a family member.

The success of those two songs plunged him into the camp of multiple award-winning artist, Ofori Amponsah, where he got featured on his hit track “Emmanuella” as well as Kofi Nti’s “Akonta”.

According to Richie Rich, several artistes including KK Fosu, Kofi Nti and Barosky were signed onto the All 4 Real record label owned by Ofori Amponsah.

However, after years of unfulfilled contract agreements and promises by management, it led to a “positive defiant” that made them part ways with the label especially when they were refused of the release of quite a number of songs they had piled up.

Richie Rich also revealed that he was the last to exit the label after he was prevented from signing a very lucrative advertising contract brought in by indigenous Rap legend, Obrafuor, from telecommunication giant, Tigo.

He confessed, ” I was hurt and disappointed so I also left”. He further fumed, ‘ the rights to my own compositions including “Aliyah”, written and composed by myself while under the label, was taken away from me and it eventually forced me to walk out of the contract”.

Apparently, his hiatus was due to being preoccupied with job demands of frequent travels to South Africa.

Richy Rich also hinted during the interview about an ongoing major rebranding which has affected his showbiz name and his record label.

He exclusively disclosed his new name as ‘Jeida Rich” due to a conflicting resemblance of his previous showbiz name to an old famous Hollywood movie.

He also outdoored the name of his new record label, Big King Records, which is under the auspices of Harry Abban alongside his experienced good old manager, Dj Amess.

In concluding, Richie Rich, now Jeida Rich, promised his fans of the same authentic Highlife vocals he is known for, which was inspired by legends such as Nana Ampadu, Oheneba Kissi, J.A Adofo and Adane Best.

After singing a few lines off his latest single ‘Akokome’, he further promised fans and connoisseurs to watch out for his new album soon to be unveiled.
