Nurideen fights Music Awards organizers

Artiste manager, Suabiru Nurideen popularly known in the creative industry as MTN, has blamed music awards organizers in the country for not supporting Ghana’s music industry to grow due to how they go about nominating artists for awards

He indicated that the processes leading to the selection of the nominees for the awards are not transparent, adding that he believes the criteria used in the selection processes are questionable.

“I don’t see the reason why I should pick a form and fill it before my artiste is nominated an award when no one paid for my artiste work in the studio. I don’t need any award for my artiste. Even if he is nominated, I will still not go for it”, he said.

He added that he will focus on releasing quality music than expecting his artiste to receive an award. He mentioned that Ghanaian artists have been disrespected for a long and entreated that talents be given due recognition.
He mentioned that a number of artistes have also registered their misgivings at award schemes in the country with some calling on their colleagues to boycott it. They have argued that among other things the award schemes are not credible.

“Everybody knows my stance as far as music awards is concerned in the last five years or so when all the chaos began. It has become a private party and my artistes are not interested… I have my reasons but that will be at a later date,” he said.
