MUSIGA Presidential Grand Ball board meets Minister

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Honorable Catherine Abelema Afeku has expressed her ministry’s full support for the upcoming Presidential Grand Ball organized by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

The Minister gave the assurance when a delegation from the board of the Presidential Grand Ball paid her a courtesy call to brief her on the event to be held on Friday, December 29 at the State House Banquet Hall.

Honorable Afeku assured the board that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would be present at the Grand Ball. Honorable Afeku commended the union for their work with the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) and the board for the decision to celebrate five music heroes at this year’s event.

The five music heroes to be honored this year are highlife musicians A.B Crentsil, J.A Adofo, C.K Mann, Nana Kwame Ampadu I and former chairman of the National Commission on Culture Ebo Hawkson.

The 2 nd vice chairman of the Grand Ball Board Kwame Sefa-Kayi thanked the Minister for the warm reception accorded the board members and assured her of the firm resolve of the board to ensure that the Presidential Grand Ball provides the necessary support for AMWeF.

Other members of the board present were the 1 st vice chairperson of the board, Mrs Pearl Esua-Mensah, C.E.O of Media General Group, operators of TV3, 3FM and Onua FM; Prophet Agyeman-Prempeh, Founder and Head Pastor of the SOJ Ministries and MUSIGA President, Obour.

The Presidential Grand Ball is an initiative of MUSIGA and it began in 2013 as an event to bring together captains of industry and leaders of society under the auspices of the sitting President of Ghana. As part of this year’s event, a number of individuals and institutions will be honored with the Music Pillar Award for their meritorious contribution to the development of the music industry in Ghana.

They are the former Chairman of the National Commission on Culture, Ebo Hawkson; C.E.O of Eurocar Rentals Oscar Doe and C.E.O of Charterhouse, Mrs Theresa Ayoade.

The former C.E.O of the Forestry Commission, Samuel Afari-Dartey who is the outgoing chairman of the Grand Ball Board will also receive  an award for his work with the board.
