American rapper/singer of Nigerian descent, Jidenna, has opened up in an interview on his African background, mimicking his Father’s pidgin and disclosed how being in Ghana was one of his most powerful experiences ever.
According to the ‘Classic Man’, being in the dungeons at the Elmina Castle and reliving some of the experiences of the slaves had a powerful impact on his perception of who he was as a proud African.
He further lauded President Akufo-Addo for gifting African-Americans the opportunity to revisit their ancestral land, 400 years after the slave epoch and disclosed that he will be returning to Ghana this December.

Speaking on ‘The Breakfast Club’ show on US-based Power 105, he said the ‘Year of Return’ initiative deserves mass coverage in the Western world.
According to the ‘Bambi’ hitmaker, it will give them equal opportunity to know their family roots and grant them the opportunity to reconnect with their past.
“That’s a big headline. It changes how you look at things. Say, we got another Trump and we already seen the game you can be like for the next four years, I’m out [to Ghana].”
