Who is Nana Fofie, the ‘Mashup Queen’?

Nana Fofie is a 22-year-old urban singer/songwriter based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Coming from a family of four children with a major musical background her deep passion for music started at the tender age of five.

Nana’s biggest inspirations are her late father and her idol Lauren Hill. Nana Fofie has a unique blend of European and African sounds that has not been heard before.

Besides music, Nana Fofie has a strong passion to carry her father’s vision, which is to help orphans in Ghana by building a school through the ‘Fofie Foundation’.

Becoming an inspiration and role model to the younger generation is one of her main goals.

Nana Fofie’s rise to fame came after her first official video release on YouTube which was the Afro Mashup ‘Mad Over You’ on the 9th of March 2017 produced by Reuben Isaac.

The video, which was produced by K.I.D.D. Production, considerably exceeded expectations. Within the first week the Mashup video reached a 100.000 views on YouTube and exceeded 1 million views in its first month.

Nana explains, “The aim was to achieve 50,000 views on YouTube and use this to start my music career as an artist but I am overwhelmed by the love I have received from fans all over the world”.

Due to popular demand, Nana Fofie and her team followed up the success of the first mashup with the release of a second Afro Mashup ‘Leg Over’ in May 2017.

On the day of the release, ‘Leg Over’ reached 100,000 views on YouTube and combined the videos have surpassed 2.5 million views.

Her achievements have not gone unnoticed with several record labels such as Universal Music Group, Topnotch and Eazi Corps willing to work with Nana.

Dubbed as the ‘Mashup Queen’ the talented Nana Fofie is paving her own way as a music artist.

The singer has established herself as one of the few female ‘Afro-European’ musicians on social media this year and is currently working on her upcoming EP.
