Stormzy nominated for 2017 Mercury Prize Award

The 2017 Mercury Prize list of nominees has been revealed with Stormzy, J Hus, and Sampha being part of the nominated artists.

Stormzy was nominated for his 2017 debut Gang Signs & Prayer.

Last year’s Mercury Prize was won by Skepta for Konnichiwa getting him the accolade as the most outstanding British album of the year.

This year’s Hyundai Mercury Prize nominees list also includes Sampha, The xx, Loyle Carner, and Ed Sheeran.

To be eligible to be nominated for the 2017 prize the albums by British and Irish artists must have a release date between 30 July 2016 and 21 July 2017 with a panel of judges choosing the winner bout of a shortlist of 12.

The Hyundai Mercury Prize Awards Show will take place at Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on September 14.
