Rawly talented Khanyi Mthimunye took her place in the music industry with the release of her debut song ‘Wild Heart’ and is ready to inject South Africa and the globe with her latest pop single ‘Closure’.
Khanyi Mthimunye reveals; “Written, late one night on my bedroom floor, ‘Closure’ is a song about me wanting to gain understanding into exactly what happened between me and someone who I had a close friendship with“.
“He became a really good friend, and without realising it, I had started to develop very strong feelings towards him. Suddenly and without warning, he stopped speaking to me“.
“I found myself trapped in my mind, questioning if I truly did love him and if he perhaps ever loved me, or even cared. I became consumed with thoughts of what I may have had done to cause the unforeseen separation and arrived at the point of desperately needing closure.” Says Khanyi
The Johannesburg born Khanyi has been quietly crafting her sound since the age of six years old when her dad recognised her passion for singing nursery rhymes at the top of her lungs and enrolled her for piano and vocal lessons.
Just two years later she was writing her own lyrics and crafting melodies to accompany her thoughts.
Most evenings after school were spent with her dad, who would blast some of the greatest legends through their surround sound, from ABBA to Michael Jackson, from Whitney Houston to Mariah Carey, from Freshly Ground to Bob Marley and to top it off, one of South Africa’s greatest, Mafikizolo.
Together, instead of watching cartoons, they would watch live concert DVD’s and sing along as if they were part of the roaring crowd.
