Meet the new game changer – O. T

Accra- based OT is a 32 year old Highlife cum Afropop artiste who hails from Effiduase Sekyere in the Ashanti Region. Named, Richmond Kofi Tuffour by his parents, he was born in Kumasi- Amakom and spent his early life there. He was raised by his grandparents.

Growing up among about 16 children, as he comes first on his mum’s side and last, but 3 on his dad’s side, OT began music unofficially, as a rapper with the stage name, Otumfour in 1998; by then, he was schooling at St. Paul Junior High at Amakom and he started improving on his rap skills by listening to the Executioner, Obrafour’s musical works.

OT remained a rapper until after 2008 when he switched to become a singer after taking a cue from a comment which was passed by one of the judges at a talent show competition he participated in, in 2006; the judge said he realised apart from his rapping skills, he could sing and that he wouldn’t be surprised to hear one day that he has switched to singing.

Like they say, life’s circumstances bring the best in us. When he lost a good friend of his in 1998, little did OT know that, that moment would compel him to write his first song in 1998. Truly to natural happenings, it was a beautiful, but sad song called, ‘Owuo s3e fie’; meaning death destroys a home.

Since 2008, Ohene Tuffour as known by folks and loved ones continued to forge ahead in the world of music still using Otumfour as his stage name till 2017, after a long hustle to get a song properly recorded (recording which lasted for almost 3 years due to lack of finance) at Kaywa’s studio on the label, Royal Empire Records with a management team called Nene PT Media.

The song titled, ‘Menkoaa’ (meaning Only me) became his maiden officially released song. It featured Luther and Koby Symple and it was released in April this year.

He’s OT believes he has a story to tell and that his later will be greater than his present. He believes he
can be a ‘game changer’ in the Music Industry despite the fact that he’s a relatively new artiste.
