FESPACO is the biggest and most important film forum on the continent and a major African music star is always part of the opening ceremony. Stars that have featured at previous festivals include Meiway from Cote d’Ivoire and Manu Dibango from Cameroun. Participants are expected from 74 countries at this year’s festival.
Burkinabe music promoter, Salfo Sore, was in Accra last week to finalise arrangements with Kojo Antwi to play with his Rainbow Tribe band at the film festival. He told showbiz that all knotty points have been ironed out and Antwi will definitely be at the opening ceremony of the festival.
“Kojo Antwi's music is well known in Burkina Faso and his videos are popular there as well. I’m sure all who come to the FESPACO opening will enjoy the entertainment package with Kojo Antwi as the principal act”, Sore said.
According to Kojo Antwi himself, he has a loyal band of fans across Burkina Faso and he would feature in a couple of other shows there apart from the opening event.
