Perrygrinno Nelson alias Sugar Ranking is one of Ghana’s talented young artistes with a penchant for reggae/dancehall music. And like most of his colleagues in that genre, he is often confused as to whether to be commercial with his music or simply use his music as a tool for spreading conscious messages that he believes in.
He has been doing the latter for some time now and his latest single, ‘Getting Money’ may be his most commercial effort yet. It is perhaps the one that will be his breakthrough.
The Kaywa produced track has catchy hooks from She and pulsating rapping in ‘patois’ from Sugar Rankings. It basically talks about the need to succeed and make money the right way as the title suggests.
Sugar Ranking has been in the game for a long time, working with some of the best in the industry but has not quite had his breakthrough yet. After travelling around a couple of African countries and learning from some of the best artists in African music, his lucky break may well be underway.
