This is the first time that Vodafone is hosting their own musical concert that had a sellout crowd of over 3000 patrons.
The blockbuster list of musical acts was gradually announced for the 2010 VF 020 Live concert by Coraline, the MC for the nite. View photos from "020 Live concert" here
The finals of the UEFA champion’s league between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich couldn’t delay the surprisingly large crowd that crammed the auditorium of the Accra International Conference Centre (The Dome).
After doing a few hits from ‘Mona Lisa’ and ‘Swagger’ and getting the crowd worked up, the beat for “Sex Machine” boomed in the speakers. The audience got even crazier when their two female dancers took turns to do freestyle dancing wiggling their waist everyone’s delight.
However, I still cannot deny the fact that Richie is an entertainer, an incredible one at that, but his inclusion of SK Blinks to the audience did not go well for him because the audience were not so familiar with his ‘Asa Fofro’ song but he corrected it when the whole Lynx Family came on stage for their ‘Fire’ song except Asem.
Eazzy who was arguably the most electrifying performer to come rocked the audience as she promised in an earlier article we wrote.
She earned a standing ovation from the crowd, who were delighted in seeing her work the stage without her dancers.“Eazzy really did well. This is the second time am watching her performance. The first was at the Ghana Music Awards and this time round she proved me wrong again”, Steven Adusei said from the crowd.
Even though D’Banj couldn’t make to Accra, he dispatched his Mohits crew made up of D'Prince Omoba, K'Switch, Wande Coal and newly signed Ikechukwu.
The hype man for Mohits opened the stage for Ikechukwu who ‘winded’ well to the ladies especially. Then came up the Prince of Mohits, D'Prince Omoba but K’Switch wasn’t able to ginger up the crowd as he was booed off stage but the timely entrance of Mugeez of R2Bees saved him as he and WC performed “Kiss Your Hands” without Paedae of R2Bees.
The centre of attraction for their one hour performance was on Wande Coal who played to a hyped crowd.
Sure, there was a lot of action on stage, but some of the best moments and meetings happened backstage and in the audience as Adebayor of Manchester City, Laryea Kingston of Black Stars, Tinny, Okyeame Quophi and more were spotted.
Songs of 4x4 has for some time now occupied mp3 players, mobiles phones and more across the country. The entry of Abortion was awesome. Abortion was like a god. He was possessed with a music spirit helping his other group mates, Fresh Prince and Captain Planet on stage.
Sarkodie too wasn’t all that bad but what we noticed was he releasing another new single but could not be heard well because of the poor sound quality. But as we all know Sarkodie is always on point the moment he grabs his mic.
$1 million KORA Award winners, P Square, proved just why they were the night’s big headliner when she they stormed with numerous hits. Blazing through tunes like ‘Senorita’, ‘Bizzy Body’, ‘Roll It’, ‘No One Like You’, ‘Danger’, ‘Ifunanya’, ‘Do Me’ and ‘Eno Easy’, ‘I Love You’ and more, they overjoyed the crowd who stood throughout their opening performances with three-piece band.
Not only did they envelope themselves in their performance but the fancy footwork were on point.
P Square was later joined by J Martine for their hit, ‘Eno Easy’. It was definitely one of the strongest performances of the night as Ghana Music.com can say.
During their last performance, P Square made a statement which touched most patrons and that they wanted to see more Ghanaians musicians headline concerts in Nigeria like they are headline in Ghana now.
