Fans of once bubly rap musician Okomfoo Kwadee aka Jerry Anaba may have to wait a little bit longer to see their idol return full swing to the music scene.” I have been away, yes, but I’m not lost”, he told Showbiz last Monday.

“As a musician you have to hide yourself for a while for your fan’s to miss you and then come back big. I am not lost all, I am currently putting together an album which will be mind blowing”, he said.

Known for hit  songs like Ka Wonan Toso, Ataa Adwoa, Obiaa Ba Nnye, Yeeko Mbaape, and Me Mpena  Kwadee said that  he’s been staying away intentionally for others to also shine. “There were people who were making it before I came on the scene. They  left so that I will also have the platform so if I am away for others to also get a bit  of fame, I think it’s cool.

Asked whether staying away for too long might lead to his fans shifting their attention elsewhere, he said that good music speaks for itself. “You need not to be told that all my songs  I have done have been hits so coming back again strongly to claim my place  shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody. I make good music and Ghanaians love it.

Five years ago, Kwadee was generally believed to have come to the end of his music career after suffering a mental illness that was generally attributed to marijuana abuse. Last year, however, he re-introduced himself to the music scene with the release of a song titled Me Nie  (Here I am) and also put up a show at the National theatre in Accra.

Only last week, there was news in the media that he had relapsed and that his ilness had returned. Responding to a Channel R’s 205 Total Entertainment question about his condition, Kwadee denied that he was ill. But a few days after that, Kwadee revealed to Showbiz that he still smokes marijuana.

“I do smoke but I go for regular check-up and I don’t think it’s a problem. In life you do things that please you and not other people. I am cool with smoking and I don’t really care what people think or say about me”, he said.
