After weeks of controversy and speculations, this year’s edition of the Ghana Music Awards, the final list of nominees for the various categories have been made public. This was done at the official launch of this year’s event which took place at Labadi Beach Hotel last night.
Gospel singer Christiana Love topped the list with six nominations with Praye and Okyeame Kwama following with 5 nominations a piece. Lynx Entertainment also looks good on the list with a combination of 10 nominations between ASEM and Richie.
Despite the his controversial hit joint ‘Give me Blow’ being dropped on the basis of its explicit content, ASEM’s ‘Pigaro’ another club banger did the trick for him as he was nominated for the Artiste of the year, Discovery of the year, twice for Best Hip-hop/Hiplife song , and Hip-hop/Hiplife artiste of the year.
Speaking to this reporter, the Hiplife/Hip-hop emcee stated that the large number of nominations was a clear testimony of the impact he’s had on the industry in the last year. The month long celebrations kick off with a Nominees Independence Day concert in Kumasi on the 7th of March.
