Ace highlife singer turned gospel musician, Akosua Agyapong is reportedly being threatened by some Makola market women who allege that the singer is responsible for the demolition of some stores in the area as well as the sacking of hawkers by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
According to these market women, Akosua Agyapong wants to remove any competition for her popular restaurant; ‘Yekum Kom’ in the Rawlings Park area and so connived with the AMA to have some shops demolished.
According to a Daily Guide newspaper report, these market women have showered all sorts of threats on the singer including ‘juju’ invocations.
Akosua Agyapong confirmed the story on TV3 Spotlight on Friday, saying that although she had not heard any direct threats, friends who hear these market women go about their intentions have told her about it. She cited a case in which one market lady rudely hit her with a basket on the street without any apologies. The singer says she has reported the threats to the police and would be informed accordingly.
