Current Ghana Music Awards Best Group of the Year, 4x4 are emphasizing how important the business side of showbiz is more to artistes than the show itself.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s morning show, Daybreak Hitz, CoDed, a member of the Hip-life group said “Its showbiz, a little bit of show and a lot of business so basically 4x4 wants to really spread its wings to cover everywhere.
“For this reason, we’ve got a dedicated team constantly working on our social media pages like twitter, facebook and iTunes to get news about us as quickly as possible to the world. We’ve got all of that worked out for us so we are calculated, we’re on point.”
Coded then suggested that there are other equally good artistes or groups in Ghana whose hit songs do not bring financial results because of the lack of business drive to take advantage of the hype. This, they believe is their secret and that of their counterparts in other African countries.
“We’ve got to get it right because in recent times music is enjoying a lot of attention in the world. So if you are a musician in Ghana and you don’t carry your job to the next level, then I’m sorry you are not trying to hit the target like other colleagues in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa are doing.
“Therefore we look at all those things and we put our job first and make sure that the business is moving on and with the support of our management team, we carry the job after show to the next level.”
The trio, Jeff Sylvanus Dodji (Captain Planet), Russel Edem Avornyoh (CoDed) and Prince Tamakloe (Fresh Prince), was guest of The Chair segment of the show, and seized the opportunity to release two singles, Mokoni and Cassanova.
