Board, Management of GHAMRO failed me – Kojo Antwi

The out-going Chairman of Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), Kojo Antwi has revealed that during his reign as the leader of the institution, his Board members and Management did not live up to expectation.

Speaking with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Fm’s Entertainment Show, the music legend disclosed that his administration could have done better in terms of addressing issues relating GHAMRO royalties.

According to Mr. Antwi, it is the responsibility of members or executives of every unit to build a shield around their leader.

“

"I trusted my Board members though you will not have set of angels to work with. Today I may say things that I probably will not say elsewhere. Every unit must build a shield around their leader…. in every institution.”

Commenting on recent claims by UK-based Ghanaian Afrobeats group and X Factor finalist, Reggie ‘N’ Bollie over their intended legal action against GHAMRO and Fan Milk Ghana Limited for the organisation negotiating and taking an amount of GHC 17,000 from Fan Milk without their knowledge or even alerting their management for using “New Girl” for commercial purpose, he noted that the Media unit of the organisation led by Prince Tsegah was to blame for not making any effort to address this claims which negatively affected GHAMRO’s reputation.

He again said, out of the Board members, Bandex and Tina were the only executives speaking out in Accra and Kumasi but management failed woefully to address issues of GHAMRO.

“On that front I felt that the Board failed me and Management failed me as well.

Out of the Board, we could have someone like Bandex speaking out in Accra and Tina speaking out in Kumasi but when it comes to issues dealing with GHAMRO, even one person who was appointed as the Media person (Prince Tsegah) couldn’t address our issues.

The Management team which was appointed to deal with such issues like that of Reggie N Bollie should have come out to explain.”

The Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) was established under section 49 of the Copyright Law, Act 690 of 2005 and regulated under L.I. 1962 of 2010 to collect and distribute royalties accruing to authors and owners of copyright and neighbouring rights.
