MTN Ghana has unveiled a music reality show called the ‘Hit Maker Show’.
‘The Hit Maker Show’, unlike other reality shows, will give young and upcoming musicians, who are yet to release any music work commercially, the opportunity to exhibit their talent and be recognised by the world.
Participants who want to enter the show should have at least a music demo of their own song.
‘The Hit Maker Show’ is an MTN event in collaboration with MUSIGA, World Bank and Farm House Production.
In an interview with Citifmonline.com at the launch, the General Manager in charge of Marketing Services at MTN, Richard Acheampong, said the prize package was a cool GH¢100,000 which would be invested into the winner’s work, i.e. production and promotion of the person’s music.
There is going to be a six-week tour round the country to collect music demos of interested participants. These demos will be screened and reviewed by the judges of the show.
The best 16 entries will get the opportunity to meet the judges to prove their mettle and impress them.
The number will be further reduced to ten and these final ten contestants will be housed for 13 weeks, where they will be trained and helped to transform their works on a weekly basis.
There will be a weekly eviction show where the general public will be given the opportunity to judge the work of the contestants via SMS.
Amongst the judges of the ‘Hit Maker’ reality show are Obour, the president of MUSIGA and Bessa Simons, a musician and music producer. Present at the launch were some musicians like Kwaw Kesse and Okyeame Kwame.
