Nominees for Ghana Music Awards for Best Group, Keche, recently thrilled several Ghanaians living in the UK with their electrifying performances on Ghana’s 55th Independence UK Club Tour organized by Akwaaba UK.
After leaving audience screaming for more, the duo, comprising Andrew Kofi Cudjoe and Joshua Ampah got on BBC Radio 1xtra to chat with Tim Westwood on the Ghanaian dance craze, Azonto and their hit single “Sokode”.
The group revealed how they arrived at the concept of the music after performing in a sub urban area in Ghana. Though Tim Westwood struggled to mention the track title correctly, he couldn’t miss the song title which meant “sweetness” when translated into English.
Alongside Keche in the studio were Ghana’s most hilarious comedian Funny Face who cracked up Tim with very comical comments and the unofficial king of Azonto, Gasmilla. At a point, they all exhibited their Azonto dance moves to Tim and his production team.
The group has since returned to the country and been involved in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Nominees Jams and the Vienna City Azonto Tour around the country; from Tema through Takoradi, Kumasi and Accra.
