Vodafone Ghana launched their new music portal website last week in a colourful event that was held at La Palm Hotel.
The Vodafone Live, part of the Vodafone services, enables users to download music tracks and videos directly onto their mobile phones which also gives them access to music by their favourite Ghanaian and international music acts.
The MC for the nite, Benny Blanco introduced Uche Ofodile, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Ghana who said “We are taking a 360 approach to music. The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and 020 Live celebrated and rewarded our artistes whiles Icons unearthed and nurtured new Ghanaian and African artistes create easily accessible to their fans and continue to support the industry by giving the artistes a platform to market themselves. It is only right that they get paid for the music they make”.Right after Uche's address, 4x4 and RnM came up next for a short performance. In attendance was the last three groups of the Vodafone Icons: Mixed Edition groups; Vbyez, Black N Peach and Waves.
Sarkodie put for a valiant performance during the Vodafone Live launch. The "U Go Kill Me" rapper shone while joined by Appietus on stage to do his part of their new song, 'Azonto Fiesta'. Appietus surprised the audience when he came on stage because Appietus is yet to perform even though he has featured on some many hiplife and Afro pop songs.
One of the most thrilling performances of the evening was when D'Banj took the stage. The 'Olivier Twist' hitmaker commanded the spotlight as he treated the audience to a rendition of his hits 'Fall In Love,' 'Endowed' and 'Scape goat' and 'Olivier Twist' with K-Switch as his hype man. The song that D'Banj and Sarkodie did together was a collaboration that no one could have anticipated and it was a pleasant surprise to see them perform the songs for the first time.
What do you get when you cross the Prince Of African pop music with a rap addict? The answer is impeccable performance as the pair proved it in a short performance of the song.
>Vodafone mobile users have to register on www.vodafonelive.com.gh with their mobile number to access the portal for download of tracks at forty Ghana pesewas which will be deducted from their credits.
