
Cameroonian and international music star Richard Bona on Tuesday dawn thrilled hundreds of music lovers who thronged the Independence Square for the centenary birthday concert of the Ghana's first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
The concert dubbed Kwame Nkrumah Centenary African Music Night Celebration, organised under the auspices of the African Union and the Government of Ghana was to celebrate the birthday of the Dr Nkrumah and African Unity.
The night saw a long list of international and local music stars such as Baaba Maal, Amandziba, Black Rasta, Amakye Dede, 4x4, VIP, Nana Boroo, Shasha Marley, Kwaku Gyasi, No Tribe and Richard Bona who thrilled the audience to his non-stop music.
Just when one thought Bona was just another new artiste to Ghanaians, the crowd could be heard and seen enjoying every bit of his performance to the point that the ecstatic crowd led the singing.
Backed by a six man band, Bona was just so good and very skillful when it came to voice and the guitar. The crowd couldn’t resist the Cameroonian star and they demanded for more.
The MCs for the night Bola Ray, Akumah and Papa Sly were compelled to heed to the request of the crowd and let Bona continue performing.
There were other fantastic performances from Baaba Maal from Senegal who was new to the Ghanaian audience but regardless of that, his performance thrilled the audience.
Amandziba, Amakye Dede, 4X4, VIP and Nana Boroo and the rest of the Ghanaian pack were not new comers to the Ghanaian audience. They also spiced up the show making it a very memorable one
Ghanaian and internationally acclaimed fashion designer, Kofi Ansah, Alan David together with other fashion designers also put a colourful fashion show. Models displayed colourful designs made out of African fabrics.
The concert started at 7pm Monday and closed at 3am Tuesday and the long night concert did not deter the ardent fans from leaving until after the show end.
