After almost a decade in disc jockeying under a brand name DJ Pepsi, Hitz FM’s Henry Ofori Nyarko officially bid good bye to the name that earned him stardom.
In its place came DJ Perfekt, and to say that the ceremony that heralded the change in name was perfect, is an understatement.
The Aphrodisiac night club, venue for the “Perfekt Party,” saw the crème-de-la-crème of Ghana’s and some of UK’S showbiz industry all gathered with one objective - to support one of Ghana’s and Multimedia's finest DJs in the country.
It started slow though, almost as if nothing was going to happen, a situation which kept the yet to be initiated DJ Perfekt a bit on the edge, calling one friend after another to get the much needed assurance they will not let him down.
Then from 1:00 am they started trickling in; stars - music, movie icons and of course the ‘hot ladies’ emerged from no where and soon the plush night club was full to a crescendo, and the music playing without stopping.
DJs – Kwame (Killer Fingaz), Mensah, P.K. Snoop and Amani caressed the console and delivered one hot track after another which kept the dance floor busy and the dance steps mostly from the ladies were indeed a sight to behold.
For a moment the party easily passed for an album launch of a favourite musician as it attracted a wide array of music stars whom the fans, mostly the ladies could not resist and took the rare opportunity to take photographs with.
Ghana born UK rapper, Sway, dance hall artiste, Samini, Tinny, Bola Ray, all were in their casual but elegant attires, wearing smiles from time to time, leaning forward for hugs and hand shakes from their admirers.
Journalists KOD, and Raymond Archer and movie star Ekow Smith were relaxed watching with keen interests and once in a while danced to the tunes that were played.
Obviously impressed with the turn out, DJ Perfekt as he is now officially known told Myjoyonline.com on the sidelines of jam packed star studded party that the time has come for him to be unique and to shirk off the trappings of Pepsi - a brand known world wide.
He said fans should expect nothing less than perfect in Hitz in the Club and Hitz in the Mix, two shows that keep listeners glued to their sets.
