
Kankam Band’s end-of- year musical concert held at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi December 30, 2011, would forever be remembered as the biggest when compared to other musical events held in Kumasi.
The event, which was organized by Trust Entertainment and supported by West Coast, attracted over 5,000 music fans from all walks of life who turned up to reunite with old pals and reminisce about ‘the good old days’.
The show was organized to create awareness and promote the 2012 London Olympic Games, where Ghana would be making an appearance.
Fans were moved by extraordinary performances by Kankam band, Funky Life and cultural display by Nkusum Cultural Troupe, who set the venue on fire with their stagecraft and unique style of delivery.
Members of Kankam band were at their best. They sent fans into frenzy when they performed some old highlife tunes. A number of music fans who could not recognize them until they were introduced as the Funky Life started screaming, calling them “Funky Life the buffalo soldiers”.
When they took to the stage, Funky Life needed no introduction since the crowd was familiar with their music.
When Nkusum Cultural Troupe took their turn on stage, they threw all their skills onto the stage as they performed before business tycoons, music fans as well as people from all walks of life.
The prolific performers got the crowd laughing when they treated them to some serious dance moves, leaving them wanting for more. The night was indeed one that will be remembered for a very long time.
