It was a total music fiesta at the Faith Evangelical Church, Akoto Lante, Accra, when the Ghana launch of the much awaited ‘Jielor’ (a Ga word for Deliverer) album from Bishop Ebenezer Agoe Larbie was held.
Agoe Larbie -The People’s Bishop, the preacher of the word and a man with 35 years of music experience - was clearly in his elements proving to the many at the venue that he is a man of immense experience.
Although he is based in the United States and a founder of Abundant Life Ministries, Northern Virginia, he has never lost his links with the Ghanaian music scene thus holding the Ghana launch of an album he says belongs to both Ghanaians and the world at large.
Before the Bishop made his way to the stage to dish out songs from the album, it was popular musician, Pastor Josh Laryea who set the tone for what many will remember as the launch of non-stop dancing. Other actors, Rev. Yawson and Ophelia of ABS Collections were in attendance to support the project.
Then when appellations ushered the man of the moment, Bishop Agoe Larbie, it was clear that the man was fired up for action. He was full of energy and knew what the crowd and music lovers wanted to hear.
From the hit track of the album ‘Jielor’ to other songs, the dancing bishop didn’t want to stop as the crowd yelled for more. The cheer at the venue grew louder as the Bishop went straight for the local music instrument ‘Gome’ proving to many that he was still in touch with his roots.
The album has two tracks namely; ‘Jielor’, which is the title track and a medley called ‘Praise Vol. 1’ which is made up of ten songs.
The Bishop in an interview with Myjoyonline.com after the launch expressed his excitement for holding the launch at home in Ghana and said he was impressed with the reception.
He said he was confident that Ghanaians would accept the album because of its generational rhythms and hopes it goes down well with the youth.
“I want the youth to listen to the song...dance with it and let it dwell in them. I just want people to know that there is a deliverer and until the saviour becomes the captain of the ship, they cannot win.”
Bishop will hold a second launch of the album in the State of Virginia in the United States during the summer after which he will again organise the popular ‘Worship O Africa’ which brings together African and World renowned gospel musicians to praise God.
