Kudjo is a Ghanaian born songwriter and singer. Creating a new market for Ghanaian music, Kudjo’s first album, Ayeyi, debuted in 2001 sending shockwaves through the airwaves.
With a successful album in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, and the UK; Kudjo is now expanding his talents to Hip Life and R&B music, with his new album, Inauguration which debuted at an extremely successful album release on November 26th, 2010 in Chicago, IL.
With encouragement from his Grandmother, Achem started singing at age 3 in churches and around his house, singing anything he heard on the radio. As a youngster, his aspiration was to win girls hearts over by singing to them. Kudjo would take his radio to school, Datus preparatory, to serenade the girls and the teachers.
As his love of music grew, he began to play the piano and write music. His Uncle Ken, a pastor, helped to lay the musical foundation letting Kudjo become the choir leader in his church. Kudjo quickly realized that performing music was his true passion.
A large inspiration to Kudjo’s music writing has been his love of travel; he wrote his first song while visiting Nigeria at age 8. He also found great inspiration while spending a summer studying in China where he met a guitar player who moved him to write two of the songs on The Inauguration.
Kudjo has become well known in Chicago; he performs at venues across the city including the world renowned reggae club Wild Hare. With Kudjo’s electrifying energy on stage he performs covers with live bands and his own hit tracks that get the crowds up and jumping.
He has shared the stage with many well known artists from around the world including Kojo Antwi, Orron Kenyatta, Triple Black, Deana Dean, Dr. Haki Madhubuti, Wande Coal, Riz, Naeto C, Alfa Clef and his fellow M5 artists.
Currently living in Chicago and collaborating with producer Mobeatz and other African artists, such as, Kwesoul, Moe SBW, Cambodia, Young Vim, B-Nice, Blackup, Reezon, Rasta Kelly and Quah; Kudjo is well on his way to becoming the next international Hip Life star with the debut of Inauguration.
