Ghana Music.com: Which boy groups inspired you all to form?
TnT: I would say growing up to different kinds of groups that have been formed over the years in the Ghanaian music scene, groups such as 4x4 lately, Buk Bak and a few others that have been there before.
Ghana Music.com: What keeps you guys together as a group?
TnT: The love for music and the hospitality we create amongst each other. We all get along very well and crack a whole lot of jokes. We are one big happy family.
Ghana Music.com: How do see the industry and its male counterparts?
TnT: A lot of people do say bad things about this industry however there is a lot of good people in it. We are definitely going to change that mentality with our kind of music hopefully.
Ghana Music.com: You all are working on an album, what should the public expect?
TnT: Yes we are working on an album but it isn't to be released yet. We are currently releasing singles as we believe we have to take one step at a time. We want to capture the market before releasing it. It is a great masterpiece and we are yet to name it too.
Ghana Music.com: Any collaboration on the album?
TnT: Yes there will be collaboration with a few artistes but negotiations are yet to begin and finalized. We want to work with artistes such as D. Cryme, D-Black, Tinny, Okyeame Kwame, Sarkodie and Kwabena Kwabena.
Ghana Music.com: Is there one artiste you would not perform or work with?
TnT: Well to be honest in this industry you cannot choose who you will work with because you create a barrier for yourself. You can reach to an audience you may not imagine by crossing to the other side to do something outside your comfort zone. For example, Jay Z did the ‘collabo’ with Linkin Park and it was successful. Therefore we would love to work with all artistes.
Ghana Music.com: How would you describe your particular style?
TnT: Our style is different, good and unique. We approach a song in a different format but it will catch your ears. We rap in Twi, English and Pidgin English. We have a current style and it will reach a wide audience too. The track "Happy Anniversary" is just a tip of the ice-berg. This had Kay, Reg and Icstr on it.
Ghana Music.com: What is going to make TnT different from being classified as a good group?
TnT: TnT is different because many are the times when members in a group are very similar or there is a single shining star in the group. Of-course we have people that stand out because of their style but we individually have our own style. If you take Robinson for example, he raps like Sarkodie and others such as Shizzle, AK and Kay, we are producers as well as rappers. Kay sings too. Reg has the Snoop Dogg approach to a track, you know the ‘relaxed rap’. IB is a lyricist. He has some great flow. Icstr has the lady touch on a track and Nathan has the voice that would make you turn your head round to see who is singing. It is a lot of talent in the group that will set Ghana music and the world on fire.
Ghana Music.com: Where did you guys get your name from. I mean TnT?
TNT: TnT means Tri-Nitro-Toluene. It is a name for a bomb. I had been thinking for weeks of a name for the group but couldn't come up with one. So I glanced at the word TnT whilst reading a newspaper and it clicked in my head because if you are a bomb, you are explosive and if you are explosive then you are very good. Hence the name TnT.
Ghana Music.com: Are there any plans to shoot a video any time soon for any of your singles?
TnT: Yes we intend to shoot the video for ;Happy Anniversary' very soon. That song was done by Kay, Reg and Icstr. We are remixing it though soon. But our next single, which is a club track will have the video real soon.
Ghana Music.com: Are there any guest appearances on the album?
TnT: Yes there will be a few guest appearances however as the saying goes, do not count your chickens before your eggs are hatched therefore you will hear about it very soon.
Ghana Music.com: Who is behind you guys?
TnT: We are signed to the label 'AK Studio Music'. A new record label in Ghana that has the niche we like. The label support us in every way we want to develop as artistes and of course have the best deal on the market I believe. Our songs get on iTunes and all the other media selling houses you can think of.
Ghana Music.com: How do you get in contact with the label?
TnT: You can get in contact with them by going onto the website www.akstudiomusic.com and using the contact form. You can also make bookings through the website.
Ghana Music.com: Are there any particular concepts on this album? Is it all about love and telling that special girl how fly she is or how much you want her, ghetto or hustling lifestyle?
TnT: That is the interesting thing because we all come from different backgrounds and have different experiences so the concept has a bit of everything, we have some tracks for the streets, some anthem tunes, some fly girl songs and of course some good written content of songs. But I must say the album is not due to be out yet. We want to feel ready to drop an album so its just singles for now.
Ghana Music.com: How old are you guys?
TnT: Well the oldest is 25 which is Robinson, (AK) 24, Nathan, IB, Kay, Reg, Osso and SwagLord have are all around the ages of 18 and 19.
Ghana Music.com: Any chance ya’ll are going to branch out and do some acting?
TnT: Well I believe so because as a human you can never accomplish anything in life without wanting more. We are all addicted to success and I personally (AK) would love to act some day. I wana play a bad boy, or gangster role something. I love those roles.
Ghana Music.com: What kind of imprint or brand are you trying to establish here?
TnT: We are establishing a mix of Twi-pop, hip life, R& B, Hip hop all blended into one and all coming from one group. Of course our main type of music is hip life, high life and Twi pop but we are so diverse that we can do all sorts. We will be releasing some of our pop songs very soon. You will like it.
Ghana Music.com: If someone wanted to buy a single online or see more footage of you. Where would they go?
TnT: They can log onto our website www.akstudiomusic.com and buy some of our songs. If they are free too, they would be mentioned on the site. It is updated daily. They can also find our music on iTunes. The website is not only for the sale of music. You can also watch the latest African movies, American movies and music videos from the Ghana, Africa and America and play games. We also like to support artistes that want to be exposed. We have a special channel that viewers can see all artistes and who knows, one of them could be lucky to get signed by an international label. Anyone that wants to watch the videos and movies has to register and it’s free of charge to register. So instantly they become a member and watch videos.
Ghana Music.com: Where can your fans find you?
TnT: All our fans can find us on our personal website www.akstudiomusic.com, on Twitter-andyatmaak, Facebook-Tri Nitro Toluene. I think and believe we are if not the only artistes and Ghana with a website, one of the few with one. The website is designed not for just ourselves but for up-coming artistes that want to break onto the market and sell albums. Our fans can watch videos of us and also of other artistes in the country.
