Ghana Music.com: You guys have a catchy name as a group, what's up with that?
2PM: From the beginning of this group we thought we needed a catchy name and at the same time a name that would be more easier for our fans to pronounce. So we came out with a couple of names and we decided to choose the name 2PM. Our name is not the time (2 pm ) everybody knows, but means (Two Positive Minds).
Ghana Music.com: How do you keep yourselves grounded?
2 PM: It did not take us time at all, immediately we came together we knew what to do and the understanding was there so we just jelled right from the start.
Ghana Music.com: How long did it take for you guys to gel as a group?
2 PM: We spend most of our time together putting music together and also in the studio so we are always conscious of what goes on around us musically and we try to be self disciplined as well.
Ghana Music.com: How’d you manage to get Voltage to agree to hop on your new song?
2 PM: We met Voltage through Quata when we went to do the remix of 'Obi Dona' which features Quata and he is the sound engineer who produced that song. We all became good friends and he is currently our manager.
Ghana Music.com: Give us a little back story on 2 PM as a group for those who do not know you?
2 PM: 2PM is a group made up of two people Thomas Kwame Adom Gaisie (Mr. Kay) in showbiz and Ebenezer Amponsah Boateng (StonzyB) in showbiz. The group was formed in 2004, we've been around as many people would say underground trying to see the light. After eight years we believe we are now holding the light.
Ghana Music.com: What’s been going on with you guys, what is your history in the music game?
2 PM: It has not been easy at all we've been through a lot as a group, we started from a studio in Kwarshieman (Media Shuttle) where there were also a few artist who were also trying to make it to the top. In late 2006 we had an album but we did not have any record label so the album was not able to come out. In 2007 we recorded the track 'Obi Doba' which was engineered by King Tyron and features SK Blinkz who we started together with as an underground, the song was out on radio for some few months, we did a couple of interviews on radio but financially we couldn't push it. So we decided to lay back till we get a good record label before releasing a song, till we found Galaxxy Entertainment.
Ghana Music.com: Do you have a couple collaborations that I want to find out more about?
2 PM: Yes we have one with Screw Faze, King Tyron and now apart from Quata and Voltage we have one with Cecil of Vodafone Icons fame and Blaqa which is not out yet, but we might still work with other people if the need comes.
Ghana Music.com: So, what do you want people to get from you now and from what’s to come musically?
2 PM: The people out there would get nothing but good music from 2PM, something big something different and should expect more good music from us because we are here for them.
Ghana Music.com: Tell us a little about your record label?
2 PM: The record label is Galaxxy Entertainment and founded by the man himself Dada K. Wresh.
Ghana Music.com: What makes you guys different from other guys?
2 PM: What makes us different is the kind of songs we do, we do something a little different from what everybody is doing. I f you listen to our songs you would be able to tell the difference.
Ghana Music.com: And to narrow that down, what’s one main message you want people to tune into?
2 PM: Let's keep fighting for the peace we've enjoyed till now, don't be deceived by any body because we are all one people, let's tolerate each other and have a positive mind for the polls. Stay bless.
