For over sixteen years now, Jennifer Chonia has been a major force in the gospel and music communities in Ghana, Switzerland, Italy and more foreign countries. Jennifer’s astonishing and soul inspiring voice has captured a worldwide audience, creating a following that transcends genres and denominations. Watch Video: Yeyiwo Aye by Jennifer Chonia

“I’ve realized the words most admirers say to me on phone and in public,” admits Jennifer on how her songs has touched people.

In addition to numerous television and radio appearances she had during her promotion period in Ghana, Jennifer has participated in a few events.

The road to Jennifer’s current musical mainstream status has not been an easy road but she knows the good lord is her light as she makes her journey to spread her word through her music.

Jennifer is currently preparing to release her next album, and on that project, she has enlisted the help of some familiar gospel musicians like Lady Prempeh and Nii Okai.

“Some of my favorite tunes like “Yeyiwo Aye” and “Ayikoo”, has been burning its way to the charts in Ghana”.

Jennifer’s gospel fans have continued to grow, as she has given birth to a new album, “Might Power”. Jennifer spent some time with Ghana Music.com to discuss it all.

Ghana Music.com: How successful has the album been so far?
Jennifer: Very splendid, so far so good

Ghana Music.com: In retrospect, could you see yourself doing something else aside from being a musician?
Jennifer: Honestly I see myself as God’s servant preaching out the gospel to mankind and inspiring people

Ghana Music.com: What makes Jennifer’s album unique?
Jennifer: The powerful voice I posses, style of music and the quality sound formation.

Ghana Music.com: Who are your mentors?
Jennifer: Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, and Vicky Yohe.

Ghana Music.com: I read that you have travelled round the world to minister through your music. Tell us about your best experience?
Jennifer: My best experience was in Italy where my ministration touched so many lives.

Ghana Music.com: Are you currently working on any other projects outside your album?
Jennifer: Basically am planning to organize an N.G.O. for women and children affairs, with the aim of catering for the needy ones in our society.

Ghana Music.com: Do you have a philosophy you live by and would you like to share it?
Jennifer: Be determined to face test of life, with an open mind and faith, it always counts in our Christian life. Because the Bible says for without faith it is impossible to please God. Persistence and determination, you will be the winner.

Ghana Music.com: Do you realize how important your music is to people?
Jennifer: Yes I realize it by the response from most admirers.

Ghana Music.com: You’ve worked with many artists but is there an artist that you would like to work with that you haven’t yet?
Jennifer: Nii Okai and Lady Prempeh.

Ghana Music.com: How long have you been involved in the music ministry?
Jennifer: Almost 16 years.

Ghana Music.com: Are you the sole writer of your songs? How do you get inspired to write your lyrics?
Jennifer: Not all because I am a giver. I always like to give someone else an exposure. You see God is looking for true worshipers who will worship him in spirit and truth, therefore there are people who can write powerful anointed songs but they cannot sing, so as a minister or an artist you have to make sure you don’t become selfish to allow those voices to be heard too.

Ghana Music.com: What is your targeted audience?
Jennifer: Most importantly the youth, mothers and fathers.

Ghana Music.com: Is there a specific song on your current album that adequately translates the message and passion of your album?
Jennifer: “Ye Yi Woaye” and “Closer To Thee”.

Ghana Music.com: Your final message to your Ghanaian, Switzerland and worldwide fans?
Jennifer: They should watch out for more powerful inspirational songs coming out soon.

Newly contemporary hilife singer, Nash is primed to make his presence felt as he crafts a rhythm that hasn’t been heard of in the Ghanaian music scene with the help of our own ‘bottle breaker producer’, Jay Q. Video: Julie by Nash feat. Castro & Screwface

Nash who has been a frequent vocalist for Amakye Dede when he was in Ghana is being produced by Emmanuel Obeng of Obengnom Records.

The album is packed with equal doses of all the genres of Ghanaian music in mid-tempos and allows listeners to peep his flavor.

For his debut album, Nash stepped into the booth with producers including Jay Q and Agyingo. He hopes to show fans a deeper insight of what he did with artistes like Castro, Screw face, Dr. Poh, Nicey and Shilo .

With a hit video accompanying the hit title track, “Juliana” (which features Castro and Screw face), an upcoming tour in support of his album, and fans, Nash has definitely accomplished what few big artists do accomplish, with just an album.

Rana is an African Pop band of three talented Ghanaian young men. The group consists of Kojo, Kofi and Kobi. Simply call them the triple K.

“We met in Senior High School that was St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast-Ghana. Back in school we performed on several campuses around the country. After school, we got admissions to different tertiary institutions”, Rana give a brief history about how they met. Video: Me Luv Letter by Rana

Kojo studied Computer Science in Catholic University of Ghana, Kofi studied Agricultural Engineering in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology while Kobi studied English Language in University of Ghana.

In 2004, they approached Appietus, the renowned Ghanaian sound engineer and music producer with their songs.

Seeing the promising nature of ‘Rana’, he signed them to his label, Creative Records. Appietus and Rana don’t joke with education, so members of Rana had to go back to school to complete their various courses.

Thank God for his mercies and our endurance, they are now set to explode worldwide with their maiden album ‘No Limit’ under ‘Creative Records’.

I couldn’t end the article without giving you the meaning of ‘Rana’ which is means ‘The Sun’ in the Hausa language.

“This accounts for our mission to shine worldwide. The sun shines everywhere. Everything is under the sun. You can’t touch it”, Rana said.

R2Bees has entered the music industry with a unique sound. Founding members, Paedae and Mugeez are cousins who have lived together for long.

Tema has always been a breeding ground for dope artists. From 2Ga to Chemphe to Gogomi now known as Mugeez to Sarkodie and more, Tema has always had a wide array of talent that can satisfy any type of Ghanaian music fan. Commercial and underground, Tema has them both. The latest group to throw their hat in the ring is R2Bees.

The crew has already started making waves and if they keep this up, the sky is the limit with songs like “Yawa Girl” and “I Dey Mad”. With sing along rhymes and a whole nation devoted to them, it seems like it’s only a matter of time. Watch Video: I Dey Mad by R2Bees

Ghana Music.com recently caught up with Paedae da Pralem to discuss about their album, working with Kill Beat, and how R2Bees came about.R2Bees are now beginning a new chapter of their career as grown men with R2Bees Entertainment. Their grown up look, swagger, and sound can be found on their forthcoming release, “Da Revolution”.

Ghana Music.com got it snappin’ and poppin’ with Mugeez, Paedae, John and Gomiski whiles listening to the unreleased album (my favourite song was “Black Plantation”, I wonder what they meant by that title) as we discussed the growth of the group and more.

R2Bees is more than comfortable in their own skin (got their own full furnished crib with the latest high tech gadgets, speak of PS3, Plasma TV, gym, they have); now let’s see if that sets a trend for others to follow in their footsteps or if you think you are fit to join R2Bees or have business deals for R2Bees, please call 233 24 311 8466.

Ghana Music.com: The first R2Bees single, “Yawa Girl” dropped some months ago. Why is it taking so long to drop the whole album?
R2Bees: First of all the album isn’t out yet, it’ll be launched on 17th December 2008 and “Yawa Gal”, a song which was just meant for the street is the reason we’re actively in this music business right now, the song did way too well underground and we couldn’t afford not to bring it to the mainstream.

Ghana Music.com: Are you trying to appeal to a new audience or satisfy the fans you have already built up?
R2Bees: You know obviously this music thing is all about your fan base, the more you get people to listen to you, the more you gain not only financially you become influential in some way to the youth who are our major targets, so like an epidemic, I urge you to spread the word.

Ghana Music.com: So basically you all put joint efforts to bring different elements from each other to the table.
R2Bees: Yeah, each and every one of us is unique in their own way, as in individual talents etc, so it’s more of everybody actually contributing with their solo talents to collectively make this dream a reality.

Ghana Music.com: Where do you see the group in five years as a result?
R2Bees: It’s said if what happens in one’s day to day life is a physical manifestation of your thoughts and dreams then it’s good to have a dream, so on that note I’d say in five years R2Bees will be the biggest thing that ever happened not to Ghana but to Africa.

Ghana Music.com: So what is R2Bees up to right now?
R2Bees: We in the studios right now, completing “DA REVOLUTION”.

Ghana Music.com: The word “R2Bees” is tossed around a lot these days. What do you guys feel about it?
R2Bees: We feel great, you know, I mean seriously not overwhelming but it feels wonderful, because to us it’s a legacy we’re fulfilling. One of my managers whom I’ve known from when I was 6-7 years old was asking me to pinch him the other day because he’s still in dreamland, we from a hood where we didn’t have role models, we from a hood where there’s less hope, we from a hood where nobody believes in you so you’re totally lost if u don’t believe in yourself, that’s why I keep saying we’re diamonds mined from dust.

Ghana Music.com: On that note, what’s the meaning behind Refuse 2 be broke?
R2Bees: I believe it explains itself, WE SIMPLY REFUSE 2 BE BROKE.

Ghana Music.com: How do you guys stay different from other Ghanaian musicians and even worldwide?
R2Bees: To us hiplife is dead because we for sure don’t want to be out with our 5th or 6th album and still be broke. Which industry do u call this? A successful one? Hell no, the politics surrounding the business is terrible and most of the artists believe more in cheap popularity rather than actually making a career out of it, that’s why when artists here are interviewed, they’re always asked aside music what do u do? The general public’s perception itself undermines the integrity/credibility of the Industry, Why??because the structure is ‘wack’.

Ghana Music.com: How did you guys meet, come together and form the group - R2Bees?
R2Bees: We all family you get me, Mugeez is my cousin, and we’re fronting for the label, the next generation of r2bees is Under, Humble, Waddle, McKay, these are signed artist to the label, and apart from McKay who although is from my Hood haven’t known him from Childhood, But the rest I bottle-fed each and every one of them, So you see, ‘We Fam’.

Ghana Music.com: Who are your musical influences?
R2Bees: 2 Pac, Bob Marley, Biggie, Jay Z, Nas, Sizzla, i’ll go on and on, but we’re massive fans of hip hop and dancehall.

Ghana Music.com: In the studio, how do you come to a consensus on what to release or when a track is ready - is there ever a struggle?
R2Bees: Naah, most at time, me and Mugeez because we finish the songs at home before we even get to the studios, so Kill Beats just kills the beat he has made, other times he does the beats, send them to us to listen and we do the song. Mugeez does most of the hooks and choruses, we call him Mr. Music Man…Boy has got so much talent it hurts..

Ghana Music.com: You have your song “I Dey Mad” on the radio right now, what is it like working your way to the top in the music industry?
R2Bees: Experience is the best teacher really, you know and we’re experienced in life enough to know that hard work pays regardless, because in everything you do, it being good or bad, with determination and hard work, you get results, so for us to be doing something this positive we vowed to put in our all, and u can see it’s paying off.

Ghana Music.com: Do you have a most memorable performance??
R2Bees: I should think it’s Tuga’s Birthday Party at Barcadis night Club in Tema, that night was off the hook, and our first major outdoor appearance was the Hits FM Homowo Beach Jam, the Energy we took up there was sensational

Ghana Music.com: Was it exciting at first to kind of go somewhere and be swamped by fans. How do you guys embrace that?
R2Bees: It’s exciting to know that people are excited and moved by your work, and we’re the people’s people, so we interact perfectly with our fans

Ghana Music.com: Best thing about R2Bees?
R2Bees: We could have lost guard dreaming in another way, but we chose the right path, That’s why we’re smiling on this day.

Ghana Music.com: I heard you’re executively producing the album? Do you have a name for it?
R2Bees: Yeah it’s entitled “DA REVOLUTION”

Ghana Music.com: What do you pay more attention to: performing, sales or studio?
R2Bees: Right now, its studio.

Ghana Music.com: Paedae have you ever considered anything other than music?
R2Bees: Yeah am blessed with a versatile talent, like anything I wanna do, with determination and a little hard work am able to do it, thought of football, acting, etc, I can only do a job that can be categorized under entertainment, because I love entertainment and a wise one once told me, in any business you try to invest in it. Let your passion for the work outweigh the profits because you could lose everything thinking about profits if you don’t love the work.

Ghana Music.com: Do you have any artists in mind for future collaborations?
R2Bees: We already done this massive hit with Samini, and we working on putting 9ice on a Track, the boy is on fire. Otherwise, wait till album is Out, you see who’s in.

Ghana Music.com: You do a lot of your own production but do you plan on producing for any other artists?
R2Bees: Yes of course, to all the artistes out there, who believe they have the talent, product and skill that’s marketable not only in Ghana but across our shores then holla at your boi.

Ghana Music.com: Outside of the industry, who is Paedae?
R2Bees: Am just an average man living his dream, I mean someone who could barely afford a decent meal 5-6 years ago is out here grinding now, hahaha, the sky can’t even be my Limit.

Ghana Music.com: How does R2bees plan on leaving their mark in the industry?
R2Bees: They Came, They saw and Obviously Conquered…..Amen.

Sante (Genevieve Yaa Asantewa Ofori) was born in Brent, North London; she relocated at the age of 4 to Ghana, West Africa. It was In Ghana where Sante’s passion for music flourished. Born into a musical family, her father was one of the founding members and lead vocalist of a group called the Blackbeat and her mother was an active member of many church choirs, with this influence and the opportunity to take piano lessons from a young age, Sante started to create a sound of her own.

Drawing a lot of musical inspiration from classic soul artists, such as Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick, Lionel Ritchie etc. Sante discovered her love for composing. At the tender age of 13 she started to write her own songs, and went on to perform at various school variety shows, but her drive and passion for music was too strong not to pursue it as a career.

With her cover versions of popular songs by the likes of Mariah Carey, and Mary J. Blige, not only did Sante improve her vocal ability, but found her popularity was increasing rapidly, as people gained a sound appreciation of her musical talents.

All of Sante’s songs are inspired by her life, everything she writes depicts the way she thinks and feels, as she draws upon happy and testing parts of her past and present experiences, all of which have contributed to some of her emotionally charged lyrics.

Sante relocated to the UK at the age of 20, where she formed the group “Pakof3″ along with former secondary school friends Mr. Max and Kay B. Together as a group they have performed at a couple of Ghana Independence day gigs, several clubs across England and Ghana Youth Parties.

Even though Sante was still heavily involved with Pakof3, she furthered her own solo song writing ability, and continued recording her own solo material, with songs like, Still, Misconception, Perfect Tragedy and a touching song written specially for her mother, all of which have been received well and our favourites amongst fellow supporters.

To date Sante has performed at various locations, including Poetry and Motion, Teish O’Day’s Show, Soul City, The Ghana Music Awards, Miss Ghana UK 2008 and most recently The Groove Experience in Norway. She continues to perform and her audience is steadily growing in their appreciation of her work.

Wow, what an evolution” is what most spectators said after seeing Sarkodie perform at JOY 99.7’s annual Old schools reunion recently held in the capital (Accra-Ghana) where he was officially crowned best and fastest lyricist after most radio and television stations were contemplating on a viable contender to his title.

Though he was the hottest artiste on the bill, it was very relevant for the media to originally prove him as the real revelation of the highly ranked Hip-life industry through competition and stage performance.

Most people asked questions like,” where has Sarkodie been hiding?”,” why did Dr. Duncan (Adom 106.3 FM) take long years to groom him?”, “Is Twista faster than Sarkodie?”, ”when is his album coming out?”,” why does he dress so simple and decent?” and lot more after being transitioned from King of underground (battle) Hiplife to best and fastest lyricist in Ghana.

Already, the West African populace has crowned him king of underground mixtapes after he killed DJ Khaled’s “I’m so hood” - (gemifo) and Rick Ross’ “Hustler” - (Tema hustla) beats.

Being aware of the entity with the fastest speed (light), he shares the view of being faster than light with words through constant practice since the already crowned fastest rapper’s eviction is not a challenge to him. He expressed the need to rap fast as a product of making more points of an issue and sending a complete picture of the said topic in few minutes to build a complete but relevant masterpiece.

Sarkodie is a well-known Computer whizz in Tema (industrial city of Ghana-centre of the world) and specializes in system software and applications though he’s got passion for making nature visually impressive (creative and fine arts). Being respectful but outspoken, intelligent but caring, calm but motivating, it was very predictable to be recognized as being very decent and disciplined in the global music industry.

Being highly motivated by Obrafuo’s “Pae Mu Ka” album, the greatest hiplife sensation is yet to release his first album in December 2008 though prospects already indicate his hit tracks like “push”, “Babe, “chat with you and listen are poised to grab foreign awards.

Though he is the first and only corporate musician in the world to have ever performed at an international high forum round table on aid effectiveness, he shares the view that globalization is everyone’s right to grab whiles discovery as an inbuilt potential. He never ends an interview without showing gratitude to his fans, family, friends and management Crew (DUNCWILLS ENTERTAINMENT) for completely molding him to be who he is today.
