Kofi is set to rub shoulders with those already on the chart.

The tracks on the album are expected to make a lot of impact on the Ghanaian music scene.

The much-anticipated CD “Sika Ye” from Ghana’s Golden voice “Felix Owusu aka Qkesi is finally going to be released these holidays. The release date for the CD is November 23rd 2008; Sputnic Erawoc CEO of SMG (Sputnic Music Group) Atlanta was at hand to handle questions from the press for his newly signed Artist.

Felix, who has been quiet from the music scene for a while decided to take some time out to spend and enjoy life with his wife and 3 boys.

Felix leaves in Atlanta and still writes some of the best songs from an African Artist; he has been working on this CD for roughly 2 years with some of Ghana’s best musicians.

“Felix Owusu is a man, husband, father, son, brother and a musician with passion for love and compassion for people. I love ET Mensah, Pat Thomas, CK Mann, Jewel Ackah and Papa Yankson”. One would say its not surprising how Kofi Ackah, Jewel Ackah’s son plays a pivotal part on this CD “SIKA YE” Kofi worked with Felix on just about every song in the production, arrangement and composition of the songs.

Felix’s music has not changed “ my music now, is to raise the bar for highlife music, to maintain the integrity while mixing some new flavor for today’s young ones. I’m here to sustain highlife and keep it mainstream, part of the reason I hooked up with Sputnic from SMG (SPUTNIC MUSIC GROUP).

In life, people come your way and you thank God for the connection; I am very pleased to have Sputnic (SMG) as my manager; the one with the vision and direction for my music and understand how far I want to take it. We have started working on my next CD, which will have a more international appeal to it with songs in Pop, Highlife and Reggae. God has been good to me and its only right to give back through my music.

CEO-Sputnic who is also a sort after producer/engineer in the U.S working with Artist like Akon and Wyclef directed Felix’s new video single “come try me” Harmoni Magazine “ This is a well done video – one can follow it without understanding the language. I have done a lot of reviews, I have to say “ this is one of the best highlife CD’s I have ever listened to”. Kwame Michaels -102.7FM.

“ Felix has definitely stepped up his game in a genre that people believe is slowly dying”. The first single’s video “come try me” was just released to the press with more videos slated to follow shortly. The videos to follow are “you see me, I see you, featuring Castro, and Sika Ye the title CD”.

Felix Owusu aka Qkesi has brought his A –game on this CD; its finally here “SIKA YE” a great CD from a great voice in a time that has lost most of it’s vintage sound. I was very impressed with the production, sound quality, leadership and the direction of this team; the SMG team, a brotherhood from Ghana conceptualizing the CD cover, posters, print work, video and music production. I have to say I’m proud to be an African, a Ghanaian that is.

No conversation about rap music in Ghana is complete without mention of Jacob Kwame Etroo a.k.a. Quata. Watch Baby by Quata feat. Dogo

In an interview with the Sunday World, Quata said his latest album titled “Independence” is complete. He expects the album to be getting radio airtime within the next two weeks.

Quata chose his title “Independence” to reflect his new status as an independent musician with his own recording label. In the past he would have consulted with others, but now he is his own man.

Quata has a recording studio Audio Farm, which caters to all kinds of music.

“I have gained international recognition so [I] did foreign tracks on my album because there is no way you can sing in your local dialect outside Ghana,” said Quata. He believes that the artist must change with the music.

The album has fifteen tracks in all. Some single titles include “Baby,” “Wombodam,” and “One Round Knock Out.” The album features guest artists such as Dogo, Atsukoloko, and others.

The public thought it might have been sometime before Quata came out with anything new, but he surprised his fans.

“I’m always ready. I can count on my manager to get the right signal before I come out,” he said.

Speaking to the Sunday World, Quata said as a musician he is supposed to set a good example for the youth to follow. As a musician, Quata says, he commands the same if not more of the public’s attention than Ghana’s most senior politicians.

Quata also revealed to the Sunday World that he has a grudge with Kwaw Kese. According to Quata, Kese made unfavorable statements about him on a radio program. On his soon-to-be-released album, Independence, Quata has a response for Kese in the form of a song called “One Round Knock Out.”

Quata said, he is thankful to God, his manager Mr. Baffour Atefua and Natures Clue Entertainment for making his album a success.

Joseph Nii Otu Ankrah, popularly known as Joe of the TV3 Mentor fame, is to release his new album very soon.

The album has 15 tracks which comprise English, GA, Twi and Reggae renditions. Ninety per cent of the music talks about himself and his love life. WUTA and others feature on his album.

The 22-year old artiste is a Nigerian-born Ghanaian. He attended De Youngsters Primary and Junior High School and furthered to Labone Senior High School. Again, he was the 1st runner-up of Mentor and the 2nd runner-up of the Battle organized by TV3.

According to Joe, though he had some money out of the Mentor and the Battle competition to begin his music career, he still faced some financial problem in recording the songs but with the help of his manager Dj Mensah, things were going to work out well for him.

“If musician are serious enough to produce something authentic and good, I don’t think any DJ will demand for ‘payola’”, he emphasized when he was asked to comment on the allegation that DJs demand money (‘payola’) before they air their (musicians’) songs.

Asked whether he intended to do music throughout his life, he said, “Music is my talent and I can’t run away from it. But in future I would like to take over my Dad’s position in the film industry.”

It doesn’t take so long a time for one to come to terms with the musical potential in Praye who present to music fans another blockbuster album; “ROLL KOLL 2008”. Apart from the fact that the trio can sing they have been consistent with their releases and they display certain delicate and intricacies of music which has actually catapulted them to the highest pedestal. Watch Video: Jacket by Praye feat. Hiplife All stars

Just a week after this paper has asked of the whereabouts of songs that normally makes waves on our radio stations, Praye has acted swiftly to answer their critics (I wonder if there is any), by this album. Just a week of its release the album especially Wodin (Your name) is receiving a lot of attention on our airwaves, dramatically lead by Peace Fm’s big boss Kwame Sefa Kayi. The song doesn’t escape his breakfast menu any time he is on air. I hope his new found love in Hiplife will continue with all artistes who churn out quality work.

The album is released on Goals Multimedia Record label owned by the young super star striker of Black Stars, Prince Tagoe. Of late the soccer fraternity has found a new love in the music industry. It is said Asamoah Djan (Djaga) of Black Stars fame has collaborated with Castro which will be part of Castro’s yet to-be-released latest album called CONCENTRATE featuring Praye.

It is all good for the youth to emulate the shining examples of their predecessors so that they can take over from them when the need arises.

Emmanuel Andrew (Batman) Samini is likely to cause a stir in the music industry as he prepares to storm the scene with the release of a 21-track album which is also his third, next month.

The reigning Hip Hop World Best African Artiste and 2007 Ghana Music Artiste of the Year as well the 2006 MOBO Best African Artiste told Beatwaves in an exclusive interview that “my next coming would be the definition of what Samini is.

This is gonna be the beginning of the real Samini journey. My first two albums - Dankwansere and Samini - are just introductions to what I can do.”

The album, to be released under the Samini music label would be titled Dagaati, after the MTN ambassador’s hometown in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

“This is to encourage my fans to know their roots,” he explains. Besides the usual irresistible love themes Samini is known for, he said, “This time I will also be touching on Mother Earth and Agriculture to further encourage Ghanaians to go into farming.”

The album which is a medley of hip-life and pop tunes is currently not fully ‘cooked’. However, the father of one said Ghana should expect hit songs like African Unit, Rasta Man, My kind of girl, Groove, Nubian Girl and many more.

He collaborated with hot international stars Steel Pulse, Sway - UK, Ethana from Jamaica, Face-Nigeria, Nameless - Kenya and Ghana’s Kwasi P among a host of others on the local scene.

Pastor Kingsley Sarpong has one concern - guess the era of brotherliness and freebies by Ghanaian gospel artistes are finally over. The reality is hitting real hard; Ghanaian gospel musicians are now into music to actually pile up riches here on earth, taking chunks of dough for gigs, while overlooking the message of goodwill, charity and the spread of the gospel.

Pastor Kingsley Sarpong however is taking a different dimension with the release of his second album, Mensuro (fear not). After hitting the screens and the airwaves in 2000 with his famous worship album titled Ayeyinnowm, Pastor Kingsley believes it is time to bless the lives of others with his second. Mensuro parades an array of likeable tracks such as Odimafo, Medi Nkunim, and an abridged version of Mila Watson’s (1974) Jehovah Jireh in a reggae style, making it an all-music-genre album.

Pastor Kingsley says there should be no exploitation by gospel musicians. Although he did not have it all smooth while recording the album, he maintains that money is not his priority, and that he is not in to recover what he has lost but to save souls. His tracks have actually helped in saving lives, including that of a woman attempting suicide and another in near-fatal labor. However, the instrument of miracles himself says he was constantly stuck between a rock and a hard place.

“Life did not smile much at me even as a child. My father, also a pastor was against my musical career at age 8 when I recognized my passion for singing. After some tough time I finally set off, because God is no respecter of persons. No matter who you are, he will definitely lead you to do what he has called you to”. Pastor Kingsley receives his inspiration from the Holy Spirit. He recalls a dark period in his life and alone in his room, when the lyrics of the song Mensuro came divinely to him.

And for Odimafo, his fingers were maneuvered on the keyboard while in the studio and the lyrics came as if he had been singing that song for a while. Since the Holy Spirit gives freely, he expects all gospel musicians to sometimes also give freely. Pastor Kingsley says he is not against people who take up gospel music as a career, but he believes that money should not be a priority. Expensive garb and ostentatious living portrayed in gospel videos should be avoided, since modesty is a Christian virtue.

Pastor Kingsley lamented how a gospel musician demanded flight transportation within the country before performing at a function. “Imagine the number of souls that would have been saved if that musician had sacrificed and taken a bus to the venue.” He observes that most gospel artistes in Ghana are not filled with the Holy Ghost and perhaps that explains the love for money and production of songs that are not divinely inspired.

Mensuro was launched on the 27th of this month at the Universal Gospel Centre, Dansoman. The calm and affable Pastor Kingsley is married to Olivia, and the couple has a son. His desire is to first acknowledge God, and then thank all those who helped him during the production of the album. The album contains motivation, encouragement and spiritual enlightenment for everyone who gets a copy. Pastor Kingsley advises all who have not accepted Christ into their hearts to do so through his album. Get one or more when the copies start sailing in music shops throughout Ghana.

The Obuasi born Fante native, Andrew Kwabena Adisi popularly known in showbiz circles as Ebo’o is gearing up for his debut release titled Ebo’ony slated for the last quarter of 2008. Ebo’o is no stranger to the music industry. His background includes songwriting credit and features for artists like A Plus. Watch Once, Twice by Ebo’o feat. Big Shot & Ben Ami

Fans can expect an album with lyrics detailing Ebo’s life experiences through to the hardships faced by human, love for ourselves and God, need for peace and unity, change in society and about the need to hold on and not give up in life. Praising Jehovah is the ultimate according to Ebo’o so the album could not have been complete without a song titled ‘Jehovah’. The album is rounded out with productions by Kwajo Cinqo, Winner Papa Noi and Junaid with collaborations from Kwajo Cinqo and Tic Tac. A young fanatic reveals “I’ve never seen an artist like (Ebo’o) - a superb writer and performer. I can’t wait to hear his new album!”

His first hit single, ‘Once Twice’ was released onto the Ghanaian music market in November 2005 and after commanding maximum radio and T.V. play all over the country, it transcended the boundaries of Ghana to other African countries and the rest of the world, notably Europe. This earned him recognition on Africa’s A rated T.V. station CHANNEL O. His video also received attention from MTV and Afro-European networks like OBETV as well as many others around the globe. Rave reviews have been written about this extraordinary artiste too.

Ebo’o commands attention wherever he performs with his captivating voice and conscious reggae feel. In most quarters in the showbiz industry he has been likened (justifiably) to the likes of Jamaica’s Damien Marley, Reggae band Steel Pulse, Senegalese Akon, South Africa’s Lucky Dube and Anthony B. Indeed he is touted as the world’s next Bob Marley, which one readily agrees with after listening to this multitalented artiste.

As a professional musical artiste, Ebo’o has opened up for internationally acclaimed artistes like Jay Z, Shaggy, Marlon Asher, Wayne Marshall and a host of others all at ‘A’ rated concerts in Ghana.

With several more projects, Ebo’o will definitely get the world to pay attention. For more information, email bingybouy@yahoo.com, eboonyland@yahoo.com or trendsettersmail@gmail.com or buzz him on +233 24 4710 435 or +233 24 993 1235

Not many people know diva Dela of TV3 Mentor fame is out with a precursor to her long awaited ‘girl talk’ album. Recorded on Okyeame Quophi’s Emklan Entertainment records label, Dela’s debut promises to be a groundbreaking one. The promo copy of the singles released contains six powerful songs. Watch Odo by Dela

The first song is a funky one with a reggaeton titled ‘fever’. Fever vava veva, let me see your dancing shoes around me; fever vav veva, baby let me feel your hands around me; Dela sings. Definitely one for the clubs and streets; ‘fever’ brings in a dance fever vibe in a way peculiar to Dela.

Odo is that slow song that has gained some airplay on radio and TV. The music video leaves fans with indelible visuals of its subject matter. Dela sang about the ups and downs of love. If light could turn to darkness and new turn to old, then know that love could also go sour. Sometimes you’re up sometimes you’re down, that’s the way love goes; that’s the way the song goes.

Being a sweet girl from the Volta region of Ghana, Dela did a sweet song for her sweet dada (mother in ewe). The tune talks about how mothers work hard to see their kids through life. Dela wants to do everything she can in return to support her sweet mother who has cared so much for her. Your love means so much to me, I’ll never cease loving you; Dela sang.

‘Mate aka noso’ is your typical contemporary Highlife song. Back-up vocalists who listen to it will love the harmonies in the song. Dela sings fantastic lead vocals and the producer does well with his skill on the keyboard. It’s a song that helps define the title of the album, ‘girl talk’. She sings about being hooked to a lover who makes her feel her best, the king of her heart.

Other songs on the promo CD are ‘last bread’ and ‘show bribi’. Look out for Dela.
