State Honors’ Grand Medal award recipient, Bice Osei-Kuffour, known in showbiz as Obour must be the hottest and most sort after musician in Ghana today.
After several hit songs and wining artiste of the year award in 2005 and several local and international awards, the young hiplife diva has challenged himself yet again with an ambitious project he has currently embarked on tagged “Youth for Presidency Campaign” which according to him is a youth empowerment campaign aimed at making the youth of Ghana conscious of the fact that they need to aspire for higher heights and also to take active part in politics and contribute to key national policies geared towards youth development. Barely a month into the launching of the second phase of the Youth for presidency campaign which is christened the 1GHANA PEACE PROJECT aimed at promoting a culture of Peace and non-violence among Ghanaians especially the youth is causing a mass hysteria with the project song the “peace manifesto” which has Obour as President advising his countrymen to shy away from violence and all other negative tendencies which have the potential to throw Ghana into chaos.
The song which is enjoying massive air play both on TV and Radio in Ghana has crossed the boundaries of Ghana, kudos to technology and, Ghanaians all over the world are craving to add their voices to what happens back home in their motherland- Ghana. With elections 2008 just around the corner Ghanaians from all walks of life are praying for peaceful elections as has happened previously, but drawing lessons from violence usually associated with elections in our part of the world, they cannot help but to re-echo and re-emphasize the need for peace.
Ghanaians in the United Kingdom in particular are craving to engage Obour and his hard working team in the UK to further brief them on the project and also to enable them contributes to the noble nationwide peace project before elections 2008. Ghanaians in the UK are anxious to catch a glimpse of the Peace team that will tour Ghana including Nana Yaw Osei-Darkwa the Communications Director of the project, Nana Kwadwo Akunor (Nana K, a musician), Emmanuel Antwi Awing, a musician, the hiplife group Asemkafour comprising Yaw Adu, Kwaku Adu and Junior Sowah.
Crack backing vocalists Robert Morlee and Gifty Boateng and Samuel Kojo Larweh, artiste manager are some of the team members who will be making the trip. President Obour laments “Peace we need because there is another war to fight against poverty, disease and ignorance”.
Baring any hitches, the 1GHANA PEACE PROJECT team are bent on responding positively to the call of the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom where they would have the opportunity to interact with the team and contribute their quota to ensuring that Ghana remains intact and devoid of any political violence after the elections.
