Eli Boni, 22, has realised her childhood dream of becoming a singer and is out with her second album titled Tie Yen Sufre (Hear Our Cry) after her debut Ewurade Maba which was released last year.
Her new work for 2008 is an outpouring of her admiration for God. On this album, Eli pours out her heart at what she does best: heaping praises on the Maker for His might and splendour. Eli Boni wrote and composed all the songs on the Tie Yen Sufre album.
The title track is a prayerful piece from a broken -hearted person seeking God’s intervention in her affairs. Well-arranged African drums accompany the Pidgin English lyrics on My Baba which dwells on how God miraculously provides for His children even in very difficult times.
Another good one, Ewurade Maba, is about the quest of the heavy laden for redemption and salvation from God. The abundant grace and bountiful blessings of God is what Eli sings about in Adom Ne Nhyira.
The album includes two well-structured and irresistible Ewe songs - Nye Dela and Xexeame Lolo. Nye Dela requests for grace from a prayer-answering God and Xexeame Lolo touches on determination being the fuel of life in a world full of uncertainties.
Other songs on the Tie Yen Sufre album include Come Into My Life, Miba and Lord Give Me Strength. Miba which is sang in Fante, is about the unconditional love of God even towards backsliders. Bless The Lord is an inspiring worship song.
A level 200 biochemistry student of the Winneba University of Education, Eli Boni is a good dancer and leads dance and singing groups both at church and in school. She has been a long-standing member of various church choirs and singing groups.
Eli believes that her public performances will give her the opportunity to affect more lives. It is her desire that Tie Yen Sufre reaches lots of people as God demands of His word.
