This month’s Words and Pictures (WAPI) festival at the British Council in Accra defined entertainment. From the graffiti to the fashion room and main stage, the event glowed in the expression of young Ghanaian talent. Okyeame Kwame and Asem did what the screaming crowd loves to hear and bubble to-gimme blow, gimme blow blow blow!

WAPI came with the best combination of elements that kept the British Council premises bustling with activity from start to finish.

On the Main Stage, Sarkodie and Kochoko made it happen because the songs they let loose are hardly heard on radio yet, the audience simply tuned into their vibe and moved along with their underground songs.

Okyeame Kwame thrilled everyone with his ‘woso’ and ‘Kwame Ghana’. Asem hit the right notes as he was short and simple. The audience responded with clinched fists in the air-‘gimme blow’.

Great designs and models were on the catwalk to showcase Ghana’s best. The Kente, T-shirts and jeans, evening wear and wedding gowns expressed the meaning of fashion. The graffiti spoke in thousand tones and languages. The likes of Atsu and Kwabena Danso caught eyes and hearts with their artistic expressions on the walls of the British Council. Okyeame Kwame delivered a presentation in the Talk Room after which fans had their autographs signed.

It was great fun with food and drinks…and ladies. Catch the next WAPI at the British Council on the 30th August, 2008.
