Kwaw Kese’s record label, Madtime Entertainment, on Wednesday won the Best Record Label of the Year award at MTN Ghana Music Awards Gala Night held at the La Palm Beach Hotel in Accra.
The gala night, which was attended by a large number of stakeholders in the music industry, saw the presentation of six awards.
A lot of people were shocked when it was announced that Madtime Entertainment, which belongs to Kwaw Kese, aka Abodam, won the Record Label of the Year Award instead of Big Ben Music Production or JMS Music Production, arguing that the two record labels had released so many albums on the music market this year.
They however expressed the hope that tonight some of their artistes would receive awards at the main event, MTN Ghana Music Awards.
The award winners were Kwabena Yamoah, MUSIGA Merit Award; and Okerebody Cultural Group, Best Traditional Troupe. Osei Tutu won the Instrumentalist of the Year Award whilst Chemphe of ‘Why You Dey Treat Am Bad’ fame, grabbed Best Lyricist of the Year Award.
The Best Music Video Directing of the Year went to Solid Productions which produced and directed Kwaw Kese’s latest music video.
Kwaw Kese, reigning hiplife sensation and the hottest artiste on the block, has been tipped by a large number of music lovers and a section of the stakeholders in the music industry to win the Artiste of the Year Award.
He has performed at all major events in the country this year and one cannot begrudge him for saying, “I am the hottest stage product”.
His latest album, ‘Odeim’ is doing well on the music market and airplay is understandably massive.
“What I am doing now is actually a tip of what I can do,” Kwaw Kese said a few days ago.
There seemed to be no stopping Kwaw Kese and for him, it is fun being in the limelight but one cannot have a normal life anymore “because all eyes are on you wherever you go.”
