OdeimHiplife star Kwaw Kese’s influence on the Ghanaian music scene is all-pervasive, and the nominations for this year’s MTN Ghana Music Award attest to this fact.

The rapstar is the dominating nominee for hip life, with six nominations.

Besides, he is the only hip life star gunning for the ultimate ‘Artiste of the Year’ award, competing with equal top notch artistes such as Becca, Ofori Amponsah, Shasha Marley, Rev Lenny Akpadie and Oheema Mercy.

His other nominations include ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’, and ‘Hip life Artiste of the Year’.

The rest are Hip life Album of the Year’ and ‘Hip life Song of the Year’.

However, a poll on Ghanamusic.com has showed that Kwaw Kese stands a good chance of annexing the major award, which is ‘Artiste of the Year’ as he is currently leading the race. Meanwhile his ‘Mmaa pewu’ and ‘Odeim’ tracks have received massive airplay across the country.

The artiste, who calls himself ‘King of the streets,’ has succeeded with his ‘abodam’ signature. He made headlines upon headlines in the media recently while his performances win public appeal.

Such was the situation when he mounted the stage at Joy Fm’s Night With The Stars event, and others such as Temafest organized by Adom Fm, Valco Hall Week cerebrations, the GO Africa concert organized to kick-start the CAN 2008 football fiesta and the Coca Cola Beach party, organized by Charterhouse at the La Pleasure Beach as well the Face of Legon pageant by Empire Entertainment.

Kwaw Kesse, a consistent performer, has mastered the act of exciting his audiences with his outfit anytime he mounts the stage.

Recently Kwesi Kyei Darkwa otherwise called KKD, an emcee of international repute, described him as ‘a musician who plays a mixture of hip life, hip hop with a bit of Afro pop. His lyrics are bold. He has a bold personality. He appeals to the 18 to 29 year age group.” On the streets, his “abodam” signature which used to be an insulting word, is no longer so. Mentioning the word now, goes with a fist against one’s own head. At the upcoming MTN Awards, the hip life artiste is expected to spring surprises.
