Nana B about to take center stage… with his inspiring debut album

Nana BNana Kweisi Bediako aka Nana B is the newest Gospel star whose name will be ringing all over the air waves and the internet on June 7th 2008. Growing up in Accra, Ghana (West Africa) as the second oldest of four children, Nana Kweisi lived in a house filled with music. His mother was a choir member at their local church.

Nana heard everything from Gospel legends; Kofi Abraham, Yabs, Kusi Berko, Rev. Eric Kwapong, Elija Saforo to jazz icons like Osibisa, great Highlife legend; Nana Ampadu, just to mention a few. Those different styles of music, as well as a strong presence in the church, helped to shape Nana as a singer as well as a person. When Nana was 12 years old, he started the Living Praise Youth Choir and Drama group at the Living Praise Bible Church (Kokomlemle).

He has great passion for Youth and working with children. Nana continued his secondary school education at Mfantsipim School where his music career jumped to a different level. There he joined the Joyful Way Incorporated (Mfantsipim branch) and became one of the lead singers in the group. He did learn a lot from the group and improved on his musical writing skills. He was also an executive of the Scripture Union and a Praises and Worship leader on campus.

In 1997, Nana traveled to the United States and joined the Apostolic Church (Royal Assembly) and again founded another music/drama group known as the Apostolic Instinct. He also became the Praises and Worship leader under the leadership of the Late Apostle Oswald Boafo who mastered Nana’s gift. Nana Kweisi and his musical group have ministered in many churches here in the US.

Nana Bediako is married to Linda who performed on his debut album; “Melodies From Above” and they have a beautiful daughter named; Jada. When asked why “Melodies From Above”? Nana answered; “Like the porters house, he took some clay, begun to mold and created a beautiful vessel. In this vessel he placed melodies from above and a symphony, which is heavenly inspired. That vessel is; Nana Kweisi Bediako and the Apostolic Instincts. Nana Bediako states that, all the songs are so inspiring and inspired by the Lord. It is difficult to choose one song as an album track.

Nana Bediako is the exuberant Psalmist with the trademark appearance; Nana B is more than a singer and his unpredictable gospel music is not confined to traditional styles. He sings jazz, africo with a blend of salsa, along with modern and traditional gospel. There are vibrant horns, great percussions and powerful saxophones by Boris, a renowned Jazz player in NY.

His single motivation in singing he maintains is to spread the gospel. In his debut album; “Melodies from above” he appeals to people of all ages and lifestyles, especially to those who might miss the traditional message. Nana B is not only a musical evangelist, but an associate minister of God in his own right. Nana Kweisi Bediako is an inspirer, who inspired the members of his group to believe in themselves, knowing that Heaven is their limit and that God has placed a unique gift in them. When you listen to these songs, listeners would be surprised to know that they have not been recording albums and in fact this is their first album. The writing skills, arrangements, and sound are unbelievable.

On this album Nana worked closely with two dynamic producers namely; Andrew Morgan (Ghana) and Benjamin Boafo (Best / U.S.A). They might be very new on the Ghanaian Gospel industry but they are about to become household names. These young producers did a great job on this album. This album was recorded both in Ghana (Hallelujah Studios-Accra) and in the United States (Sasu Bediako’s Studio). The mixing and many of the studio work was supervised by Elder Ken Appiah of Soul Winners and Sasu Bediako a well known Highlife singer in the late eighties.
