The reputable crooner will be performing alongside the legendary NAS South Africa’s Freshly ground together; they would help fulfill Soundcity’s reputation of adding value to life with the power of music by staging an exceptional, potentially incomparable Soundcity Music Video Awards.
Already, D’Banj, Asa, P Square, Faze, Jimmy Jatt are amongst the leading contenders for laurels at the SMVA 2008, with the highest number of six nominations recorded to DJ Jimmy Jatt, and five each to the trio of Asa, Faze and D’Banj. The Nominees list shows the viewing preferences of Nigerians from the previous year till date; and the entries were adjudged on the criteria of: originality, style, creativity, expression, and graphic quality.
Come Friday 11th April 2007, Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah will be gracing the one-of-a-kind red carpet alongside hip hop legend Nas. The Awards which will be transmitted to millions of viewers across Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, and indeed to some parts of Europe.
Tic Tac who recently has been in the States hooking up with Akon, Gil Green and not to forgetting his unstoppable performance at the official Ghana independence bash in New York last Saturday, is thrilled to be part of such a big event and will always deliver the goods.
Speaking on behalf of Kafina Management Georgina Bimpong added Tic Tac is on a roll now after inspiring the nation with his Kangaroo dance, he been chosen as a headline performer alongside a hip hop legend such as Nas is a great achievement, when it comes to big stages Tic Tac always delivers, lets not forget Big Brother Africa and Citifm’s December to Remember, he is truly one of the best performers in Africa, that’s why he is always invited to these big events.
According to Miss Shileola Obisesan, Senior Brand Manager of the Consolidated Media Associates, and Awards Sponsorship & Marketing Director, “this will possibly be the biggest entertainment event to be held in Nigeria in 2008; it will be one Awards in the history of Nigerian entertainment.
“Soundcity is reputed to produce the best music and music-related events in Nigeria, and the Soundcity Music Video Awards will be no exception, with the best of recognition, reward, and first-class entertainment.
Indeed, the SMVA will be the exceptional music video awards in Nigeria to recognize the efforts of artistes and video producers and directors whose strengths and abilities have been able to put Nigerian and African music videos on a global pedestal”, said Mr. Tajuddeen Adepetu, Chief Executive Officer of CMA, Soundcity’s parent company, and Executive Producer of the Awards.
Already, the Mo’Hits Crew, the Storm All Stars, P Square, Plantashun Boiz, QuestionMark All Stars and the MUSON Philharmonic Orchestra have been confirmed amongst the groups performing as well as Tic Tac.

I get sick in the stomach when ignorant bloggers post comments full of shit like most people above me. You guys need to read the story well, understand it well before you pass silly comments. First of all, Tic Tac is not gonna share a stage with Nas or that the two would perform together. Tic would perform at an awards show that has many artistes on the bill including Nas, so after D’Banj performs, Jimmy Jat would perform next, Tic Tac follows,Asa follows and then NAS performs. Did i hear some prick mention Obrafour? Nigga, are u crazy. Obrafour is only popular here in Ghana, not even in Benin so fuck off. Tic Tac has a huge following in Naija alongside VIP and like a businessman that he is, he makes sure he releases his albums in Nigeria. So instead of you dullards damning Tic Tac and his rap style,wish him luck. Come to think of it, this same Tic hoisted the flag of Ghana at the Bigbrother show in SA, so how dare you chastise him.
What we should be grossing over is why Nas is going to Naija to perform and JaRule is coming here?
These Nigerians would always be a leap ahead of Ghanaians and we shall lag behind them if we don’t have drastic changes. First, we have only one major awards show, Ghana music Awards which means monopoly and no competition but the Naijas have three or so major awards. Tic Tac is no reputable crooner. He is a rapper and a very good one at that. Please…. crooner is a term generally used for singers of popular music (pop)
Samini wud have fared beta i think.that show’s too big for tic tac.i dont think he’s gotten to that level yet.he’s not got so many hits and he doesn’t really entertain.i’m not a hater,im just being real.
