There are many events and awards ceremonies that transcend others. In Africa, it is no other than the most famous African Music Awards ceremony KORA Awards that honours most music celebs in Africa and the diaspora. Years have come and passed! Two years without KORA is a challenging situation but all the same KORA IS BACK, BIGGER AND BETTER!
KORA is now in Calabar, Cross River State in Nigeria to stay for a minimum of five years. KORA 2008, with a marketing slogan “One Billion Viewers…..One Hundred countries….One Hundred Artistes…….One Amazing Prize………….One Million US Dollars” kicked off with a launch last year December 20, 2007 in Nigeria. Come February 2 2008, KORA will host big Nigerian Entertainment Editors to a lunch party in Lagos, which will then be followed by a press conference in Lagos to announce the calendar for KORA 2008. Watch out for full release of the calendar of KORA 2008 on Ghana Music.com soon.
Come 6 December 2008, the awards ceremony we’ve all been waiting for will touch base in Nigeria. All roads will be leading to Calabar, Nigeria for the biggest awards ceremony ever in Africa.
Speaking to Mr. Ernest Adjovi, President and Executive Producer of KORA Music Awards Limited, this is what he had to say: “History will tell one day the real reason behind KORA’S absence. I believe there are always good reasons behind GOD’s decisions and moves. To all and each of you, thank you for the support thus far.
To all of you journalists, to the members of your family, to your colleagues and staff, allow me on behalf of the KORA organization to present our wishes of good health and happiness. The rest, by the grace of GOD will follow. The KORA machine is on the move and ready to roll”.

I love the Kora address. I watched it here in the Washington Metropolitan area. But my comment is that there are other countries Africa. Kora Awards i believe is based on best African singers but in this site all i’m seeing is Cameroon and especially Ghana. No hate on these countries because we are all one, but there are other countries in Africa that have musicians. Countries like Guinea, Sierra Leone, Mali, Morrocco and other countries in all Africa that can nominate one or two of their top artist to this prestigious awards.
The koraawards website has been offline for the past week and a half. Does anybody know what’s going on???
First of all thank you for a such wonderfull topic, well i have to say it is difficult for me to say if i agree with you or not. I will read it for a second time and let you know what i think
