Reggae-monk Shasha Marley last Saturday turned Cape Coast, a town in the Central Region of Ghana, upside down with the launch of his “Lost and Found” album which has become a very controversial one.
One could have easily mistaken the event for a Regional jamboree, carnival of fanfare as the presence of the celebrated reggae star painted the whole town red, and for three solid hours from 10pm to 1 am the entire town came to a stand still.
When the reggae monk mounted the stage, there were spontaneous cheers and applause throughout his performance. Shasha was in a full flight; he treated the audience to all the hits on his new album. Cape Coast burst with reggae dance steps when he entertained the large enthusiastic audience with his controversial “Maata Family” track, which he sung twice upon a popular request. The “Boom Boom” followed suite.
Shasha then took the pains to explain to his audience, the message and meaning of the “Maata Family” track. Other up-and-coming artistes such as Ndadewa and Tapoli had the opportunity to show the crowd the stuff they are made of.
The MCs for the programme were Dr. Pounds and Kwame Dziwonu, all from Eagle FM. The programmes manager of Eagle FM, Yaw Adjabeng, in his remarks, expressed his heart felt gratitude to all the sponsors for their massive support.
In a post-performance chat with the media, Shasha Marley advised the youth especially those who want to go into music to believe in themselves, if they are keen on achieving their goals as professional or career-oriented people, The programme was organised by Eagle FM, with support from Coastal TV, Okoto Chop Bar, Computer Distribution System Technology (CDST) and Ahomka FM.
