Alhaji Sidiku BuariThe Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has warned that the union would not hesitate to take action against all those who try to taint its image.

The union has therefore advised the media to be wary of certain elements who would want to use them to create confusion in MUSIGA as its congress date draws near.

MUSIGA, as it prepares for congress on November 14, 2007, needs the support of the media in terms of publicity.

According to the executive board of the union, it was only a few shameless individuals who do not know anything about the union’s activities who go round making all sorts of negative remarks about the union.

Expressing it grievances, the MUSIGA executive board noted that it had decided to ignore defamatory statements made against the union by people who paraded themselves as founders and caretakers of MUSIGA since they lacked a sense of direction and had no good track record.

The board said it was aware that such people had hidden agenda against certain personalities in the music industry and were bent on destroying them.

The board said it had nothing to hide because it operates within the constitution of the union.

In a related development, Madam Diana B. Hopeson, 1st Vice President of MUSIGA, in a statement said that over the years, the copyright industry had witnessed a campaign by certain people who parade themselves as ‘experts’ and ‘kingmakers’ over nothing and such persons have been given undue support by certain media houses to misinform the general public.

She warned that MUSIGA, which is currently working on its projects, would not allow itself to be divided by those she called enemies of progress.
