“The Independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked with the total liberation of our country”. These were the words of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah 50 years ago during Ghana’s independence on 6th March.
Fast forward to 2007 and Ghana is 50 years. You enjoyed yourself. I believe you made merry and went to some of the beautiful places in Ghana to have fun.
Did you consider or ever stop to think of your friends in the prison? Did they enjoy themselves during Ghana’s 50th Anniversary? Maybe, we forgot about them. Anyways, all is not lost.
This is why Goodies Foundation in collaboration with the Prison Service has taken the initiative to raise funds through music to help rehabilitate and reform prison inmates and also help them become self supportive. The fact that someone has been to prison does not mean he is not worth it. Many people come out of prison and become great people. Let’s stop here with no mentioning of names.
On December 7, musicians of Ghana will be treating prison inmates of Nsawam to good songs from their repertoire coupled with sharing what they have with them, eating with them and having fun with them as well through games.
The National Theatre will be on fire on December 8 as Ghana’s greats will be performing the best of their songs to people of Ghana in order to raise funds for our fellow friends who are in prison. An expected amount of 5 billion cedis (500,000 Ghana new cedi) is set to help support the rehabilitation and reformation project.
Ex convicts or convicts are not worthless. Let’s join hands in supporting this project through cash and kind because it can be you, or your friend or family member who will find himself or herself there.
Donations in cash and kind are welcome and sponsors are welcome on board as well. For more details and info, call +233 24 4382 371 or +233 24 9423 456 or let’s meet on September 6 for the launch of this project.
