The 1st Annual Ghanaian Disc Jockey Recognition Night took place recently at the Party Place Ballroom, Bronx, NY. According to the brain behind the event, Hashim Haruna, CEO of Boogie Down Nima Productions, “For so long we have danced to the mixes of these DJs and now we need the community’s support in recognizing them.”
The MC for the occasion was Papa Linc and there was a brief performance by Bright of BUK BAK .
Special guests were; Alhaji Mardah, Executive Secretary-General, NCOGA, Ms Rose Quarshie, Deputy Executive Secretary-General, Mr. Kwabena Manu (Honorable Pancho), PRO, NCOGA and Mr. Patrick Gyan , NCOGA Executive Member.

The CEO of Boogie Down Nima Productions (BDNP), Mr. Hashim Haruna has been widely praised in the Ghanaian community in USA for his initiatives and great vision. The DJs and award receipients were very grateful to Hashim and BDNP for their recognition. The recognition is long overdue.
The executive members of NCOGA (www.ncoga.com) deserve a huge commendation for gracing the occasion and also offering support to Boogie Down Nima Productions in making the occasion a success.


This was a great event! For those who missed it, you really missed out! I’ll be looking forward to next year’s because I know it will be even better! We have to give our Ghanaian DJ’s their long overdue respect.
