Ghanaian born Edmund Akrofi Darko known to fans as Prickie reckons that music piracy is a global menace which requires a cooperative attitude of Ghanaians.

The talented musician in an exclusive interview with Sunday World acknowledged that the music industry can step down piracy by selling music on the Internet.

Songs could be encoded on the net and marketed as well so as to allow internet users to shop for their favorite Ghanaian songs on the web.

According to the Obaa fefeefe singer, music lovers should cooperate by buying songs on the web so that piracy will be reduced in the country.

Prickie has performed with Kojo Antwi alongside French artistes in August last year in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire to commemorate the country’s independence with about a million fans.

Presently, Prickie is taking his time warming up to release his up-coming album soon.

The 28-year old songster signed a three singles record label with Courtney McDonald, CEO of UK base Frienz Konnections in 2003.

His first single dubbed Sem-sem-sem was on an All Stars Edition of Frienz Konnections album with the likes of R. Kelly, Omarion, and Guerilla Black.

He also performed in live show in St. Elizabeth – Jamaica with high-selling raga heroes as Tony Rebel, Benie Man, Luciano, Garnette Silk, and Lady G in front of about 45,000 fans in January 2001.

Being the first African to feature on this reggae showcase which was in its 8th year at the Port Kaiser stadium, he was invited by Tony Rebel’s Flames Production for another concert that same year.
