DanielLast night unfortunately Daniel was sent packing on stars of the future with all his hats . When the week’s votes were added up, he received the least vote, his good looks, great voice and exciting performance not withstanding.

One contestant who has earned a name as the hat man due to his habit of wearing different kinds of hat in the on-going stars of the future reality show is Daniel Abobaw.

The 26 year old contestant always spots a hat while on stage and he is well known for wearing different colours of hats to match his outfit on the occasion.

Some of the contestant as well as members of the public have wondered if Daniel used the hats as trademark for his personality or they were just for the sake of fashion.

During one of their rehearsal breaks at the national theater last week Daniel told the showbiz :”I don’t wear them only when l am performing but they are with me everywhere I go. It was a passion I developed from childhood and I have gotten used to it.  Infact I love hats,” he said.

According to him, he discovered the passion for hats at the age 11 during his JSS days at ABEA school in the Gomoa Aboso in the central region and bought his first hat at that time though he did not wear it to class. His reason for buying it was that he wanted to cover his head when he had been an object of ridicule among his colleagues both in school and in their compound house at Abrompa in Swedru.

He said his friends use to tease him with the assertion that he had a “controversial head.” While some saw my head as big others saw it as small and this made me uncomfortable, so I decided to cover it to I could avoid all the scorn” He, therefore, started covering his head with bandanas during inter school games until he raised enough money to buy his first hat which was black. .With time the hat became part of his dress code as people who saw him complemented him and since 1998 when he completed Breman Asikuma Sec. school, he has been performing with the hat.

Currently, Daniel said he has over 24 hat with more than 8 different colours in his wardrobe and also has outfits which matches every colour.” whenever I go to town and I see a hat I like , I buy it and make sure I have clothing to match that col0our and use for my performances.”

“I now see it as a blessing because what was meant to be a refuge from being scorned has actually become a fashion which has enhanced my personality. I wouldn’t mind if anyone calls me The Hat Man,” he said.
