The freshest and most sensational duo making waves everywhere presently, in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Senegal, South Africa and London is 5FIVE with their very popular hit song “African Girls” has a lot to offer anybody who rightfully get a copy of this musical menu.
Luther Azameti a.k.a PAPI (rapper) and Jeffery Opuku Agyeman a.k.a KILLI (rapper and singer) forms this creative and dynamic duo.
Their artistic name “5FIVE” stands for 50:50 without both zeros which simply means equal share of what they have with their fans anywhere on this planet. The title of their debut eight songs on tapes and thirteen songs on CD album is “Your Love” which is also the first track.
If first impression really works then this song has all it takes to wet your hearing appetite for the next song. “Akyeke na paya” a very popular dish in Cote D’viore and parts of the Brong Ahafo Region is the title of the second song featuring Voltage. In this song, the food is used as a reference to how two different entities (man and woman) can come together to form a singular unifying force.
The smoothest song on the album is the third track titled “Lamiokor” featuring Benny and Scholastica. This is a slow Jazz tune any soul music lover will be amazed to hear. It is indeed an all time classical master piece fit for brunch time.
The next song “African Girls”, featuring Diojo needs no further explanation.
This is the most popular song 5FIVE is known with. Here the singer is daring any African girl who wants to party to come share drinks with him in the VIP as the chorus goes. The video tells it all.
“Tell Mama” the fifth track is about an imaginary lady whom the singer wants her to tell her Mama that he is in for her. This is by all standards a perfect African love song, sang in pidgin and it features Castro D’ Destroyer and Natural Face.
There are other songs like “No 1 Fan”, featuring Scholastica, “Min Sumo bo” (literally meaning I Love in Ga) featuring Diojo and Johny Blaze, “Ghana Mmaa” featuring Oga ‘B’, “Ei! Shorty”, Agartha featuring Voltage to the last song “Si wa gedem”, featuring K.K from D-Camp and Diojo.
Producers (sound engineers) who worked on this album include Appietus, U-Beat and Orchestrater. For their international appeal, four languages dominated the album Twi, Ga, English and a little French. This is executively produced by Nana Asiamah Hanson a.k.a Bulldog for Bull House Entertainment.
For Mr. Hanson the sky is not even close to their limit. He wants his boys to gain international image like Sean Paul, P. Diddy Wyclef, Akon and other big names out there. As part of their plans to promote this project 5FIVE has a plan of visiting the various hoods (areas) like Nima, Adabraka where they are based, New Town, Mamobi, Pig Farm, Dansoman (DC), Tema to mention a few to give to these communities what they have to offer.
These are the words of a group determined to break every rule bending them over to a system that has held them back for too long. 5-5 says they want to be clearly distinguished from the “signature three-month burnout cuts” floating on urban radio lately. Enjoy the new only inter-continental album you can find on any music shelf.
