The third edition of Mentor from the beginning looked a bit boring but gradually it’s gaining weight. This weekends’ show was the reggae night and the nine remaining artists took turns to perform their chosen songs.
The presenter, Anita Erskine looked smart in her outfit and this time looked a bit flexible on stage. The judges for the show were Dominic Ansah Asare, Rama Brew, Mark Okraku Mantey and the guest judge was Shasha Marley.
Paa was the first to mount the stage and he performed a song from UB 40 followed immediately by Erico the comedian and he performed Lucky Dube’s ‘Slave’.
Nadjat who was classified as a timid lady by the presenter this time was lively and went to the extent of earning an applause from the controversial judge Mark.
Dela took her turn and she performed Gladys Knight’s ‘Bye bye Baby’ which won her a blessing from Shasha Marley and cheers from the other judges. The Okomfuor Kwaadee look alike Peter performed Hills and Valley which pleased Dominic and gave him a thumbs up for showing other side of him in the music field.
Faya came in with low fire and then immediately killed it and then rekindled it and sped of quickly. K-Gee later appeared from the crowd and took Buju Banton’s ‘Destiny’ and made it his own.
Ras Lisa appeared in a red, gold, green and a black costume from her dress down to her slippers portraying real Rastafarian and performed Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved” and she did this with much strength and enthusiasm.
The last performance was from Paul and he managed to win the heart of all from the judges down to everybody inside studio B. He sang Samini’s “Music makes the music man survive”.
The general performance for the show was just perfect and the judgment passed by the judges proves that they are improving very well.
They all gave good rendition of the songs they chose and the man Shasha Marley this time added more spice to the judgement, he blessed some and prophesized into the lives of others and encouraged every contestant to strive very hard in the competition.
The audiences were thrilled with great performance from Shasha Marley and he sang “Taadi Mafia” a track on his new album ‘Lost and Found’. He appeared in his monk costume and this time he has finally locked his hair.
The eviction stage was due and almost all the nine competitors were panicking and finally Peter was to leave the mentor house. Weekly Fylla in an interview with a section of the crowd revealed that this week’s edition of Mentor 3 has been very promising.
