We just ended the month of May and musically men have compared Bob Marley’s timeless music with others who have been knocked out by the intensity of his reasoning power, making him a genius extraordinaire.
Ras Korby, a Ghanaian based British born reggae musician who doubles as an environmentalist expressing his view told this correspondent that Bob Marley focused on the world and the people who lived in it.
He said what made the world proclaim Bob Marley as a genius was that he knew how to express himself easily in a way that everybody could understand.
Rocky Dawuni, globally acclaimed Ghanaian top reggae artiste on his part said that at the peak of the Beatles’s career, the four Beatles stars declared in America that they were more popular than almost all reggae groups in the world.
No wonder, strangely enough more than 26 years after their break up caused by death of John Lennon through a gun shot when on his way to a recording studio and George Harrison through illness, they have virtually been forgotten, although Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney are alive.
In a sharp contrast, Bob Marley, he said died 26 years ago but his popularity as a legend has not waned and continue to live on through his music by the purchase of his albums and activities organised in his remembrance.
In conclusion Ras Korby said interestingly a search for a worthy successor with comparable qualities has not brought any result.
Aspirants he said have only ended up as flawed pretenders including Marley’s eldest son, Ziggy Marley, who is completely knocked out by his father’s charismatic power.
Bob Marley he said is not dead and therefore does not believe in death anniversaries and would rather prefer to evoke memories of his living words which has contributed to world philosophy and well being to mankind through his music he concluded.
