The music industry has seen tremendous improvement with the introduction of very innovative schemes. One of such schemes is music videos. Music video has become one of the catchiest innovations to be introduced into the music industry.
The company which is championing the cause of music video is Phamous People.
The Company, made up of two brothers, George Gyo Gyimah and Gerald Ojee Gyimah started operation some 15 years ago. Surprised that you have not heard of them for such a time of their existence? Hear them, ‘We decided to be in hiding a bit, we wanted our work to do the talking than ourselves’. Phamous People was carved out of Ghana Video City owned by Charles Alan Gyimah who incidentally is their father.
Some of the works of the group include videos of notable artistes such as Daddy Lumba Ofori Amponsah, Okomfuo Kwadee, Obrafour, VIP and other top artistes.
Internationally, artises like 2Face Idibia of Nigeria, Tony Tetula and others have also been privileged to work with the duo. “We do all the videos of the musicians considered tops here in Ghana. We cut across all divides gospel to hiplife, rock to reggae”, Ojee said.
The group is now targeting the international scene. “We want to take music video to another level and we are poised to penetrate the international market to make it big”, George added. Upon all the goodies done, they still think there is more to do. “We are still learning, we are yet to break through hence our desire to test the international waters to build up our area of expertise”, George said.
Phamous People won the best video of Okomfuo Kwaadee’s ‘Ye ko mmaa pe’ in 2005 and Obrafour’s ‘Ako’ in 2006.
