Daasebre GyamenaIn his first interview in Ghana since his release from a United Kingdom jail, after having been cleared of drug related charges by a UK court last week, hi-life star Daasebre Gyamenah, told Ghananewstoday in an exclusive interview that he will release an album soon on his harrowing experiences in the UK.

Daasebre flew back into Ghana on board a British Airways flight from London on Tuesday night. His flight touched down at around 7:30pm.

A huge crowd of friends, relatives and fans were at the Kotoka International Airport to give him a heroic welcome.

Ghananewstoday correspondents say the atmosphere at the airport was euphoric, as some well wishers shed tears of joy, moments after Daasebre walked through the glass doors of the arrival hall of the Kotoka International Airport.

The crowd was so thick that many reporters who thronged the airport to cover his arrival had a hard-time, trying to interview him.

However, Ghananewstoday managed to have a short interview with him moments before he was driven away in a posh Wine Nissan Terrano by his sister.

His first words were to thank his fans, relatives and well wishers for their moral support during his trial, adding that he is grateful to God for his freedom. Daasebre stated that he will come out with an album soon to tell Ghanaians about his experience in the UK.

He was returning to Ghana for the first time in close to a year. He was arrested in the early hours of Thursday, June 29, last year, when he disembarked from a British Airways flight from Accra to London and charged for possessing substances suspected to be cocaine.

Initially, the substance was valued at 100,000 pounds, but was later reduced to 84,988 pounds.

He was tried two times for unlawfully importing “illegal drugs into the UK from Accra, Ghana, in contravention of Section 3, Subsection 1, under the UK Illegal Drug Importation Act of 1979″.

His first trial did not arrive at a verdict, but his second trial, which ended last week Friday, saw the 12 member jury that heard his case declaring him not guilty.
