Can traditional Ghanaian drumming arouse your feelings and captivate your soul? Can it excite and mesmerize foreigners - especially those who have never had a close encounter with experienced drummers?
Well, Emmanuel Opoku, the professional drummer and vocalist has proved the immense power of traditional Ghanaian drums during an open concert at Kumasi park.
Spectators who watched him perform appeared to enjoy themselves as the Emmanuel thrilled them with complex rhythms.
There were other performances by some traditional and hip life performers but Emmanuel Opoku was the one who received most claps.
Ghana can boast of master drummers like Nii Tettey Tetteh, Kofi Ghanaba, Nicholas Baker, Julius Abedi, Robert “Obuobi” Ashong, Dzata Agbagli, Stephen Ofori, Richard Danquah and Edoh Seble but Emmanuel Opoku is gradually rubbing shoulders with them.
Emmanuel Opoku’s last concert was a great success performing alongside renowned artists, dazzling and mesmerizing audiences in over thirty venues throughout the country.
